I was wondering what you guys did to wire your positioning and signal lights, since the lights didn't come with any harness? this is for the 180sx Kouki front bumper, I have it on my car but couldn't decide whether I should hard wire them or buy a harness, riding without any signal lights right now... help please... :faint:

its a parking light.
positive
negative
is this really something difficult? does it require a FAQ with fuzzy pictures and images? maybe little cartoon characters saying "dont touch your radiator when its hot or you will get burned" just like the NISSAN FSMs? haha
come on man, its a BULB.. TWO wires.. its not even dual filament.

Yah, its single filiment, only comes on as a parking light, does not flash. The USDM has 3 wires going into 1 bulb, being the 1 bulb is duel filiment, meaning 1 wire is positive, 1 is negative, and one is a temporary positive that only comes on to flash, you gotta brake em down and wire up the 1 positive and 1 negative. If you have the turn signals (round lights that are under the bumper part or whatever), you have to wire that 1 tempoaray powered wire and hack into the one negative.

positive
idiot...
I wasn't asking which one is positive and negative, I was asking if anyone had bought a harness to connect them, all the lights come with is a female harness, no wires to tap into, and if you guys don't by now this is a not a cheap bumper, I'm not about ghetto rig my lights to a bumper that I spent 900 bucks on...
I'm sorry you guys didin't understand my question....
does any WHO OWNS THIS BUMPER HAVE ANY ADVICE????

I wonder if there's a way to pop a dual filament bulb in there and use it like the stock US-spec park/turn combo lights.
Aaaanyway.
The bitching at this dude isn't warranted. As I understand it there's no wiring on the lights, just the connector on the bulb holder. He wants to know where to get a plug that fits that connector so he doesn't have to ghetto fab it and mess up an expensive pair of lights.
I bet that connector is used on some USDM '90s Nissan... like the corner lights of an S14 or something.
But, whoa, man, you got taken on that bumper. ;)

just solder a harness to come off of the plug connector and then fill the connector with epoxy or something. that way, you have your own harness connector that will fit instead of using the OEM nissan one (which will be difficult to find, no other light i've worked on uses that connector).
AS for bulb choice, no.. I dont think thats an option.. there is no dual filament bulb that will fit in there without overheating and possibly destroying the housing.

what harness did you find that might work and what modifications are needed? just cutting and splicing or cutting off a tab on the harness?

i cut my harness off my old chuki bumper lights and solder it to the pins on kouki lights and then heat shrinked it and sealed it with some hot glue gun, i hooked up the blinker part so those position lights blink since i didn't get the kouki turn signals, blinks kinda fast but better than nothing
here is a modified kouki lights with another peanut bulb one for position light and the other for turn signal

but where did you get the female plastic harness connectors from? mine only came with the male side connected to the bulb.

mine din't have a male connector, so it was soldered and glued, it not as pretty as that g-grow one

I strongly suggest that none of you guys mess with Mike (old_s13), lol. He knows what he is talking about, and, if you question him, he WILL find a way you make you look stupid! :werd: Mike.

That's exactly what I had thought about doing but wasnt sure if the the lighting output would get jacked up because of the extra bulb in the housing. I think I'm gonna set mine up like that anyway.

The socket going straight in, towards the bottom, is the same as the S14 sidemarker and corner lamp socket. If that's what you need, cut one off a salvage car. In fact, I've got a harness with three of the plugs, and a few sockets laying around.
Highest bidder gets them.

They already make them. $280 no need to send in a core.

I don't have a harness. I just spliced the wires so the bumper lenses stay on while the turn signals blink.
I didn't pay quite as much for mine but close...
Did you have a problems getting top of the bumper to line up with the hood? I've tried everything and there's still a gap between the top of the bumper and the hood and fenders. I always thought it'd fit very flush since it is OEM.

WHat are you guys using to hold the bumper in place? 91-94 brackets, 89-90 brackets or zip ties ? curious, those bumper brackets do not fit
I am using the 91 upper brackets 3 piece: 1 center piece and two that on each side that attach to the fenders. The bumper fits but as I mentioned there's a gap. I am not using the foam energy support. Maybe it'll fit better with with Japanese foam support?
I have the Kouki JDM upper center piece too but I need the JDM rubber thing to go with it to fit. It is the same as the US one except for the bolts that go through the top of the bumper matches where the 91 US one doesn't. Maybe I need the side upper pieces that go under the headlights? The bumper just seems to hang kinda low. I think there's a side bracket to attach the side edge pieces which I do not have as well.
The bottom of the bumper holes lines up with the holes on the bottom of the metal bumper support.
