Setup: Built bottom end, bored .020 over, felpro hg, n62 MAF, 550cc injectors, isis t3871r on 10lbs.
Just to give you a little back story...car was running great for about a year and half, at least I thought it was. Noticed, temp gauge was getting hot, so did some checks and found coolant level was low and had no leaks...did a compression test and everything that could possibly isolate the issue and like I assumed my head gasket had a little leak on the #4 cylinder. Finally decided to swap it out. Got the head decked, he didn't take enough off to require a thicker head gasket so just went with another felpro.
Now, I'm like 99% sure my lower and upper chain are correctly in time but just wanted to post these picture just in case I missed something dumb since the only other person I've had to doublecheck my work is my wife who honestly could rebuild a KA after helping me with majority of the work building my motor the first time. All the timing marks match the correct links but wouldn't hurt to have a second set of eyes.

A finally, this is always an issue for me...ignition timing!!! God I hate those two words. Well I understand the whole FSM process of...
1. Warm up car for 5 minutes at idle
2. Turn car off
3. Unplug tps
4. Turn car on
5. Adjust screw until rpms are at around 750 (car is on at this point)
6. Turn car off and plug the tps back in.
Buttttt, for some reason I just can't get it to 20*btdc and the idle is rough until it warms up. My afr's range from high 12's to high 15's until it warms up. I have the dizzy pointing at #1 and for sure #1 cyl is at TDC but it idles a little rough and my timing light reads like 40*btdc!! and I've tried adjusting the dizzy a tooth forward and back. But, neither gets the timing to were it belongs...20*btdc?! I'm going to double check whether my ecu is throwing any codes but, here's a list of what I've checked...
1. Vacuum leaks
2. Boost leaks
3. MAF sensor
4. Injectors & o-rings
All I can think of that I haven't checked is my knock sensor and coolant temp sensor? Could it seriously be either of those? Could use some insight cause at the moment I'm stumped. Thanks in advance!
