alright, i'm working on a project to make plates to mount some component speakers in the door of my S13. i'm making them out of aluminum on a CNC mill and since it won't be any harder to make more i figured i'd have a bunch made and sell them. i just trying to get a feel for the demand right now so let me know if you are interested.

they will be made out of 1/4" aluminum plate so they will be light and strong. mine will be for 5.25" speakers, but i should be able to fit 6.5"s. they should work for with component speakers or normal round 2/3 way speakers. they will be direct bolt in using the original hardware, you won't have to cut or measure anything and it will all fit behind the factory grill.

what do you guys think?

i just bolted my speakers in 5.25 doesn't really need a mounting plate

i've seen that done, i can't imagine you get the best sound out of the speakers that way. you're talking about just bolting two of the ears to the door and letting the others hang free? speakers need a solid mount and a divided air space for the best bass response. an enclosure would be best, but there is no way anything would fit in the door. at least with the plate, it's like a free air enclosure.

i love your avatar BTW, every time i see that sign i laugh.

Price? I might be interested in two of them if you'll set them up to fit 6.5" speakers. Let me know via PM or email.

i just took off the plastic mounting part and bolted my 6 1/2 onto the metal part using the two left holes. then i mounted the tweeter on the pillar plastic piece.

I might be interested in a nice alum piece like that.

I was going to goto home depot and pickup either some mdf or plexy and make some brackets for 6 1/2's

post up some pics and all that stuff
