I don't know if this is the right place for this.
I'm looking for help finding a 1983 or older Yamaha Virago XV750. The one with the rear mono shock. It doesn't have to be in great condition, as long as the engine, frame, and all important parts are there and in good condition. I have used every search engine/listing I could think of but have not found the right one. Let me know if you have any leads or suggestion on where to look.
Thanks for any info.

i'd love to have one of those myself. they make amazing project bikes. i'll suggest craigslist but you are probably already looking on there.

Yeah are nice looking bikes, if you put enough work into them.
I actually found one on cl. I'm gonna check it out tomorrow. It's just missing the seat/subframe and small things. All the important stuff is there though.
Still gonna keep looking though.

what are your plans for one if you find one you like? just to ride or are you going to do something with it? the one you are talking about on craigslist is missing the things you don't really need if you plan on building something unique. virago's like this make me wish i had one to tinker around with......

Yeah. That's pretty much what I want to do. Maybe even try to figure a way to fit a passenger on there too.

shit then just try to find one with a running engine, screw the rest of the bike. you can build it slowly and piece it together. you can easily make a passenger friendly seat and the stock peg brackets should allow you to ride a passenger no problem.
i've got a cb750 project that i am cafe'n. got it down to the frame at the moment and have a gsxr aluminum swingarm and a gsxr inverted fork front end and triples i am putting on it. been working on it too long tho, after spring i plan on getting it done before summer's out.

Here's my thread from a few years ago. You can see where I ended up with it on pages 10-12. http://zilvia.net/f/off-topic-chat/243302-cafe-racer-build.html

that's nice. and making me mad. i gotta get my bikes back on the road. there was a triumph boober style bike in that thread that was amazing.
this is my sportster, clipons, rearsets, custom exhaust, 1200 conversion, ported polished heads, carb work. that is all i will ever do to it, it was my brothers bike and i got it after he died. i can't bring myself to do anything else to it. http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/ee461/Calvin_Durham/Facebook/chief/253421_233281880018497_100000100600130_1102498_118 3494_n.jpg

Thanks guys for the help.
I picked up a virago today for $200. Has everything just needs seat, wiring, controls and engine looked at. It's gonna be slow going for a while but I already started tear down.
I was thinking of getting a cbr600rr seat and have a subframe made for it.

other than ebay, i'd look for a virago or maxim forum. i know there are a few out there, viragotechforum.com being one but there are others.

Hey can anyone help me with a yamaha question. So I have a yamaha radian yx600 that I am rebuilding. Yamaha has color coded crankshaft bearings blue black green etc. I was just wondering how exactly do I figure out which journal bearing/ plane bearing color i needed. I believe there are numbers on the crankshaft and on the upper crank case and you subtract one from the other to figure out the color code based off the resulting number. I have googled this and don't completely understand it. If someone does please explain it to me.

i wish i could help you, but honestly i have not a clue as to what you are talking about. maybe you should try asking your question on one of the yx600 forums, there are a few good ones out there. all i know about yx600's is that they look good and could make damn good project bikes. :)

That's basically it. Numbers on the crank case, crank and rods. Subtract one from the other then -1.
