Hey guys I need to pick the brain of some masters on here!
So....here we go.
I purchased a 180sx with a ca18det a few months back and the wiring was scary. I started cleaning it up and all was well. My last stop was the maf wiring. I cleaned it up and wired it back and now the car is in limp mode. The wiring is correct. A: un-used wire B: power C: ground D: signal. Now the questions begin. If I did wire it wrong could I have shorted the ecu? Or would it fry the maf instead?. This is where it gets weird. I tested the wires and when the plug is not plugged into the maf while the car is idling the wires all read proper. A: no voltage B: 12v C: ground D: .5v. When I plug it in however, they all read 14v. Weird right? And the car doesn't rev over 2k. I stripped the wire all the way back to the ecu and they are fine. I'm lost. Someone please help. I miss driving my little rocket.
One other oddity to add. When I would be on the throttle fully from time to time the engine would cut out at random then the car would be drive able shortly after. What would cause this?
