got home off an 8 month deployment, car ran fine for 2 days then started to sputter on the freeway and died once at a stoplight. i chocked it up to a dirty iacv (this happened before) so i sprayed some trusty carb cleaner in there. worked for about 15 minutes. so i decided i needed to tear apart my whole intake and clean and inspect, so i did just that. everything seemed fine. i cleaned the shit out of everything; intake mani, fmic and piping, filter, and decided to check spark plugs as well. they seem fine, a little dark, but expected, but they were very loose so obviously tightened them back down. threw everything back together, ran into an initial issue of not tightening a fuel line down all the way so fuel sprayed a bit... but then tightened that back up. and started it up. it ran really high at first, idlig at 4k. so i took a look at everythig again and coulsnt find anything. so i tried it again, and idle lowered back to 1.5k but was sputtering like crazy and if you tried to rev it it would try to die on me. i also took a look at my exhaust and noticed fuel spurting out of it (as in, in liquid form) also using the had on the exhaust trick can tell it is running really rich; still havent hooked up my wideband. so if anyone has any ideas what this could be, please help me! thank you in advance

forgot to mention, it is a s13 blacktop, greddy fmic, full 3" exhaust, tubular exhaut mani, and those are the only associated mods i can think of.

Pull vacuum line from for and check for fuel being pulled from it. Sounds kinda like an issue I had with mine after letting it sit for a while.
Ended up rotting the diaphragm due to old fuel sitting in there

Put fresh gas in it, clean the MAF, and swap the plugs.

Ok it has fresh gas, new plugs, and a clean maf, and now it runs like it originally did, so it will die after about 45 seconds and sputter at higher Rome (~4k)

You got a boost leak happening somewhere. Check the couplers from fmic to the intake. Could have a small tear or something from when you took apart. Also since you cleaned the iacv make sure the idle and tps aRe set right too.

Also I just thought if you put new plugs in. What gap are they at?

Gapped to .030, I checked all vacuum and boost lines, and when I put it back I made sure idle and tps were perfect, I just went ahead and seafoamed it, I'm letting sit for a bit. When I go back out I will double check all that though

I don't suppose you have that wideband hooked up yet? I'm leaning towards the MAF or your timing being off. I don't think a boost leak is your issue.

Not yet, I need to weld on a bung. And it very we'll could be a maf, I have a z32 maf, but I still would need to rom tune if that's the case

So I took a look at the wiring on my maf (which is shotty and held together by hopes and dreams) and found the power supply wire seems to be loose, so I'm going to resolver that and see what happens

So redid all my maf wiring, made it all nice and fancy looking with electrical tape and heat shrink. Now Sarah is running great again! So thank you everybody! Especially you fuego, might have taken me a lot longer to find it. So thank you.
