I believe these are aragosta coilovers, but i have never seen them. If anyone has any info on these I would like to know about them because I saw them for sale.

I am going out to inspect them tomorrow, besides checking for leaks what should I look for that I should be worried about with buying used coil overs?

Thanks in advance.

Irrelevant.

They are being sold by a company that imports JDM parts.

JDM Midwest Motor Depot Inc.

Moot point, I have some parts that I'm guessing you/me/a lot of people have never even heard of. That's in ND... like the most redneck state in the union.

You have been here long enough to know where you should be posting stuff like this.

He is such a BFE boy isn't he. BFE boys should only like stuff like Silk Road right?

Anytime you see him post you can just go ahead and know he is talking out his ass, he has a location complex.

Can the mods/admins just ban or pink (for a long time) this guy already?

Anyway, OP to answer your question about what to look for:

-top hat movement (does it move freely? has any part or the whole assembly been replaced or serviced?)
-camber adjustment nuts for the front (are bolts missing? are they seized?)
-collar and mount adjustment (seized? how damaged are the lock rings/perches? will you need to replace the lock rings/perches? if they aren't in the best condition, can they still be adjusted?)
-condition of mounting points (straight or crooked? installation scratches are common)

Also--because it has happened to me a couple of times--miles aren't the only indicator of condition. But rather, how they were used should give you a rough estimate as to where they are at.

Leaks can be wiped to pass visual. So if you commit and do purchase these, lift that rubber boot covering the shock and see if there's fluid around the piston. If it's bad, you could invert the coilover and fluid may just come out. But that would be the worse case possible.

I think I've covered just about everything. I'll add more if I remember something that I missed.

It's Topline Aragostas. What car is it for? The rears are slightly different than mine. Top hat is different and the lower mount/cup is shorter.

To piggyback on what Zooopreme said, check if the shocks are blown. Lower the spring perches so the springs are not holding the to top hats up and see if the shocks lowers with the springs.

Is it just me, or does it look like the rear springs are beginning to corrode in those photos? Could just be dirt, but from the small photos it looks like corrosion.

GarageMakS14 is a dumbass. Don't listen to him.

The fronts are Aragosta. The rears, I'm not sure. I'd replace those rear springs, though.

Yes, thats a broken spring on the left side. One of the reason why I replaced them with Fortune Auto 500s. I'll probably replace the front springs and go back to running these later down the road. I still like these damn coilovers.

Are they worth the $300 even if they need some servicing? I didn't have the time to check them out today but i will tmrw.

Roll of a dice, if they're bad, its gonna cost $100-150 per shock to get them rebuilt.
