Are you trying to get a daily car? I think 600hp is too much to let a wife drive.

With anything modified, the reliability of the engine falls on the tuner. The stock stuff however... They don't call it Mitsu-shitty for nothing. Subaru is toward the top in reliability and Mitsubishi is toward the bottom.

The Mitsubishi will be faster (when it runs) but the Subaru will probably be by far the better all around car. I wouldn't call an '03 "newer".

Look for an bmw M5, you will be very happy once you drive it. 30 should get you a nice one with low miles. And very reliable.

I haven't seen a evo take a dump as often as a Sti

And I say newer cause all I daily is fully built 240s lol

Get a c55 or a 211 e55 benz more reliable than a m5 and faster not to mention cheaper than m5 and way easier to maintain and get dependable power. I would imagine the evo to be way too peaky especially with that much power and I think 2010 sti's just suck.

lol subaru on the top for reliability...

lulz (imma subaru tech)

I just finished rebuilding an sti motor that blew a hole in the piston because someone decided to slap an access port on it and crank up the boost.... I would go with the built motor...

400hp and those heads are gonna start lifting under heavy boost on that EJ25. I speak from experience.

If you want reliability, stick with a stock car. If you want big power and a solid motor go with the EVO. If you want to keep relatively moderate power(350<) and have a bullit proof transmission go with the Subie.

It ultimately comes down to this; Which would you prefer to build? The motor or the transmission, you'll have to do one or the other.

I have an Evo 8 and to me they're not daily driver material. The repairs and the maintenance cost is pretty pricey (at least for my budget). They are fun and they do have a lot of space but, they are pretty delicate and become money pits if it's already been built. Reason I say that, is because you can say you'll drive normally or that you won't molest it, but in all actuality you will just enjoy the Evo's power. You're better off grabbing a stock one with low mileage.

From what I hear, the Evo is a lot easier to work on than the Subie, if you work on your cars.

Why don't you and your wife get a normal car?

coming from a subaru owner, your going to have to deal with alot more maintenance with the subaru.
