What is this noise that im hearing? Everytime I reverse and im going at a slow speed or mid speed and when i put pressure on the brakes i get this nasty sound as if its hitting metal with metal. But i have alot of life left in all my brake pads still. Im pretty sure my ebrake isnt up. I think its something with the rear brakes but i dont know what?. Could it be the calipers ?or should i resurface my rotors? Any help would be appreciated.

Mine did that when one of my brake pads went on metal. It made a loud nasty grinding noise in the rear. Got new pads and rotors and it went away.
But you said yours are fine.

Wheel bearing will make a grinding noise some times. Jack car up and check for up and down, or side to side play in wheel.

Mine does the same shit. It only grinds only in the rear only when reversing after the car has sat for at least a few hours. My calipers definitely need rebuilding, although my pads / rotors are just fine. It's been doing this since I've bought the car a few years ago, haven't pinned it down yet.
EDIT: ^ Mine definitely isn't a wheel bearing. It did it with my old 4 lug hubs and does it with my new hubs. No play at all. If it was a bearing I'm sure it would make noise in any direction and at speed.

So you're saying its the calipers that need to be rebuilt/replaced?

I'm only guessing. I'm going to be replacing the seals in my calipers here soon.

Could be a plethora of things, may be a wore inner pad, could be strange pad wear in general (odd taper, they are shitty caliper designs so pads do taper for sure)
Could also be the e brake hanging a smidge or funny, but that wouldnt' happen much once rolling, only when first backing up.

It's possible that the shims on either side of the brake pads are out of position.
-jack up the car
-take off the wheels
-ACUTALLY check the brakes
I would take the calipers off and check all the shims too.
A wheel bearing is just silly. When the wheel bearings go bad you'll hear a groaning noise that gets louder with speed. If it's the right wheel bearing that's bad, the noise will diminish when you make a hard right turn, and vise-versa for the left. That happens because the noise gets quieter when the bearing is un-loaded.

Just fixed my buddys last night was doing the same shit in reverse and it was the guide pins in the caliper on the bolt shit. His were not tightened down and were shaking the inner caliper thing. Make sure everything on the calipers are tight.

I had the exact same problem. Pad looked fine from the outside. Turns out my caliper piston was stuck and wore out the inner pad. Replaced caliper, pads & rotors on each side, bleed, & I was golden.
