1.how many amps does the 62 ecu need to run and not starve for power?
2.if i wire all 12 volt wires to ecu(doing this without factory junction box)will it still turn on? or does it have to have a switched ignition source or can i just wire everything off a 12v switch
this sr motor is not on a s chassis so im starting from scratch
just two questions guys :) thank you

I suggest you get an FSM to help guide you through this. Typically there are a few 12v supplies to the ECU. There is a constant 12v source and a switched source for sure, but dissecting the EL portion of the FSM will help you much more than a bunch of idiots on a web forum.

Power is power, it doesn't matter. The only reason for switched power is so the car only starts with the key on. For a track car you could just run a switch. I would suggest using a switch to activate a relay (or multiple relays) to distribute the power though. Most switches are cheap ass POS's and can't handle any sort of current flow. It's just safer and more reliable with the relay.
You DO need a constant power source to the ECU, on the PROPER pin (or pins), to retain the memory though. If you don't have that the computer will be constantly re-learning from scratch, which may cause the engine to produce just a little less power.
As far as amperage to run the ECU, it's so low that it's of no concern. Like I said, I would just use the relay because it's safer and more reliable.

thanks guys
and as far as switches
buyer is requesting them so im not hesitating on the cost of a proper switch
