that was var driving the pink 240sx. he only slightly nicked his fenders, it was more of a snapped tie rod and steering rack failure.
a supra hit a wall and messed up his hood

I was there with Sil40 til around 1 or 2pm. We spectated, but I don't think I'll be going to another event like this unless I'm driving...
I thought NZO, blue S14.5, stickered-up white coupe, pink hatch, and a couple others did a really good job today. :)
I found a bunch of pics here (http://www.sromagazine.com/events/thumbnails.php?album=205).

Blah I did really shitty and I have plenty of excuses! Its always fun to hang with friends though so at least its not a complete loss.
On a sidenote whoever decided it would be a good idea to have a drift event there needs to get their head checked. The track was ok but the skidpad/S-Turn was total shit. I didnt see a single person complete a clean run on that all day. Maybe it just happened when I blinked...
monkey7
05-31-2004, 03:00 AM
The skidpad/s-turn had loose crap on it and you had to cross dirt and gravel to get the the skidpad. But over all I had fun, I guess i'm an outcast cause my a$$ kissed the wall.

I just woke up from my nap since I arrived back at home from the event.
It was my first drift event that I've been to and I'd have to say it was pretty cool. Even though I didn't enter (no money, helmet, or tires)... the competition was probably the most fun! jaae86 was great. go jeff!

That was my first ever drift competition and I had a great time! Especially when you're in the finals with your best buddies. I was really nervous before we started the qualifying and just keep it together after that. =)
Although the small course was indeed rough and really bumpy, it was a chance for me to learn how to control my slide in these kind of conditions.

It was my first event but I had a really great time. I didn't mind the track much....but the gravel on the skid pad scraped the bottom of my bumper and the lip :smash:
I'll definitely go again if:
-They redo the pavement on the skidpad, the ditches really sucked and so did the loose gravel as i mentioned earlier. I think in my sig you can sort of see a lil ditch at the bottom right corner
-The ditch that i really hated was the one on the first turn on the actual track; I noticed a lot of people hitting it and making their car jump :eek3: I'd try hard to avoid it but that made me run into the grass sometimes.
Anyway, i liked the event overall. Like everyone else said, the beginning was confusing. But after everyone got the idea of what was going on, things were flowing pretty smoothly.

I believe the 350z crashed as well. The Supra that crashed really messed up the left part of his front end, and scraped (not sure if dented) the left quarter panel.
A hachi also hit the passenger side quarter panel
It was cool. I don't think I'd seen a actual drift competition in NorCal before now.
Makes me really want to drive my car! :(

I had a great time at the NCDA event. I agree that the short course was sucky. I couldn't get anything going on it. And throughout the day the pavement just got worse. The big track however, was soooo much fun. Especially during the competition where the opened up the big oval and the back straight. I tried a few manji's on it but it's a bit intimidating going 75MPH next to a wall. And tandem drifting is a blast. I'm happy I made it as far as I did. I got a little too pumped up and kept spinning on the 3rd gear sweeper. Congratulations to everyone that competed and just showed up to drift. I could see everyone improving through out the day. I think I was in the Best 8. I was in the white FC.

anyone wanna host some vids for me? About 50mb's? That blue "s14.5" had a pretty good driver. I think I got some vid where he is out in front of SC Levin. And the supra was f#cked. The front bumper was gone, hood was jacked up, and had some good damage to the drivers side. Does anybody know the name of those 3 models that were running around. I got some pics of them with some 240's.
Skid pad sucked. i did ok for my first event. I'm never going to Altamont if there are more than 20 drivers. The seat time was long, but the track time was short. Most of the day was spent inside the car waiting in line.
I fought the wall and the wall won

well hopefully they have the track paved for the next event, which is apparently "Crab Drifting". I'm not going to be surprised if it isn't. The only action Altamont sees is Demolition Derby's, and some minor stock car oval racing, so they could care less about the track condition. I think Altamont ended up with a very good event, and they should use the money to take care of the track. The only highlight of the event was when NCDA was out drifting, Todd Ho and the FC are the shit! Even tho I live around the way of thet track, I won't sign up for another event until I see the it in good condition, it's expensive enough for tires, I want em to last the whole day! I can keep you guys up to date on the track.

The track was going to be repaved for that event. It was actually a great op for you guys to learn how to drift with various condition changes and grip levels. It will be repaved for the next event. It was good seeing you guys out there, I had a great time being an instructor and seeing how must everyone improved through the day. I was the dude in the s14.5, I bent a valve and decided to leave early, still a great event. I hate the parking lot bull SH!T like all the other events. lol

this was a sick event , and i think the first one that was close to concord for once, lol. maybe in the next one we can form a BBQ meet at my place sice it is rather close.Lots of cars most were ametures but there were some who were really good, like the S14.5, the charcole S13, and some of the hachi roku's and FC's. I will miss out on the next event and will participate. July 4th, hope i can bust something. but yea great event beside the heat being a factor.

Whats up everyone i was the black FD in group I.
I thought the Skidpad was fun. I actually liked it. We tore it up though by the end of the day we made little ditches in the first turn and at the beginning of the 2nd. The patch of dirt at the beginning of the skid pad messed up a lot of people including me though haha. If you were going sideways into the skid pad you would spin out once you hit that dirt patch. But all in all i had fun. I really hope they repave the skidpad though and have a more orginized start.

05-31-2004, 04:12 PM
skid pad did suck. we got to mess around on it the day before the event and it was so tore up i blew a tire there and messed up one of my wheels. the track was too much for my underpowered bone stock KA motor and i lost all power in the turns and i was too damn scared to try to get sideways on the ovals with all the walls around me but damn! i was impressed how you guys tried and got better throughout the day. i was the guy with the towelhead at the track entrance and i noticed alot of you sorry bastards in the beginning getting really good towards the end. alot of improvements and alotta balsy guys trying to get sideways on the ovals and getting real close the walls after messing up. i thought there'd be some worse off crashes but none of them were too bad. it was a good day i guess and i feel alot of the participants learned the feel of their car throughout the day. good stuff. we didnt have any problems and i guess we can say everything went pretty well. this was only the second event held by NCDA and i know it can only get better. im glad i was able to be apart of it. peace out.

jaae86 near the end of the day you were smoking pretty bad. A lot of smoke coming out of your exhaust. Did something go wrong?
Does anyone have any pics of the pink car post crash?
Gus has pics he'll post up later. The tie rod snapped then the damn hillbilly tow truck driver almost fucked up the intercooler and he fucked the exhaust up when he towed it off the track . The fender is dented, i was using my steelies so the rims are ok, and part of the front bumper is messed up. It was worth it though. :D . Gus and i fixed the tie rod already but i havent test driven it yet. I'm having drifting withdrawls already. I'm gonna upgrade to a T-88 turbo so i can drift on 280 all the way to san jose.

wow, and I thought my crash was bad. I feel bad for my car and others who fell in the same fate. I thought I was the only one. For me, the fire inside me made me want to conquer that fear of the last track turn. I went several times after, trying to see where things went wrong. I was getting close and understood my faults. I guess its a pricey lesson. But damn that was fun!
I met a few cool cats out there. The brothers (one from San diego), Moraga, Richmond, SF, all the instructors, especially Henry, cause we hit the same spot. I felt his pain.

I was a little pissed, I did not get to drive at the event, there were a few spots open after about an hour (people too scared to drive next to the walls! :ughd: ) or their cars were not running to well, That was a good off throttle track though, I just wish I could have ripped it, Oh well next time
Zach and Jeff did really well
considering Zach could not even do a desent doughnut a few months ago to now he was ripping the 3rd gear shit!!!
Good job guys
The guy who hit the wall in the Supra needed to put his muffler back on and fix his misfire before even trying to drift, that kind of thing gets to me.

I just hope people would remember what I told them in the driver's meeting that after this event they will have more confidence than ever. I heard there were some waiting in the lines in the morning, well I found out that drivers on the main course some how got into the line for the mini course and was waitng in two lines. Got to pay attention in the driver's meeting guys! Keep checking on www.NCDA.net for soon to be released info on 4th of July weekend event at Altamont Raceway.

Raziel, the car was actually smoking the whole day. I have a bad turbo seal that will need to be change soon. One thing went wrong though is that my intake piping came apart during the competition and I couldn't rev past 2.5K. But we were able to tighten things up again and get going again.
Dave, thanks to you and Bau for all the assistance with the car. Lets do it again at the next event. :)
you rocked! if it was up to me you would have won 1st place. i stalled enough time to keep you in the race. good job, to you and me both.

Thanks RPS13SH!!! I really needed those few secs to get going again! Too bad I spun out at the end. I was afraid that my intake pipes would come off again so I took the boost down during the last runs.
TJ is good driver, he deserved to win that one.
Thanks for the support guys!

That was a really fun event even though we left early. I didnt get to drive this time around, but I got to sit shotty in my friend's ride and it was a good time.
OMG dude, your buddy has a really nice clean S14.5 setup. I'm so tired of seeing people with gaps and a rubber seal on top of the headlights. What'd he do to get the height of the lights correct? Custom brackets and fender trimming?
blu808
06-10-2004, 05:32 PM
its a funny story, I actually bought those fenders off of a guy on zilvia.
When i recieved them they were broken from shipping. So Bobby and i worked on each fender for like 8 hours. Fiberglassing, bondo, etc. They still dont fit that great, but they look decent enough. I did make a few brackets to make the lights fit better.
It you are planning on doing the conversion i would be happy to help you.
Let me know.

I might someday. At the moment I'm enjoying the great mileage of my bike, and waiting on a real job for a car (undoubtedly a 240SX). The thing is I really think the S14.5 conversion needs a widebody rear-end so the lines flow, since the Strawberry lights draw your eye outward, and the S14's lines just end (as opposed to the S15 which has very sexy hip-like rear fenders IMO). As it is, I'd want it done right, which means lots of work on my part. If I do it soon I'll let u know for certain. Thanx.
blu808

Thats true, A wide rear would be very nice. Nice 929rr. I had an erion racing edition 929rr. Great bikes....

Do a pc3r if you dont have one. It makes all the difference on that bike

Power Commander III, right? That adjusts your fuel flow and timing, correct? I'm kind of a new to sport bikes (I've been riding since I was 16, but I just got this bike 2 weeks ago) so bear with my lack of knowledge.
blu808
06-11-2004, 11:54 AM
Yes Power commander 3. It will make the bike 100 times better.
iyceman
06-11-2004, 10:56 PM
Well I'll take your word, but HOW does it improve? More power? Mileage? How does it achieve said effect?
blu808
06-12-2004, 01:40 PM
It changes the curves for the timing, injector pulse width, and overall maps,
It makes the bike more ridable, offers different downloadable maps, and improves power throughout the whole rpm range.

06-12-2004, 01:42 PM
Mmm... I'm not too worried about having more power (the things a lot of bike already), although the idea of being able to alter my power curve is certainly nice. I'll look into it man, thanks for the suggestion.

06-12-2004, 02:42 PM
No prob. It will also get rid of the Jumpy off to on throttle feeling.
