To start it off I am new here so I'm sorry if I posted in the wrong section, but this seemed like the right one to me. ( I have searched all over) the reason I cant seem to find anything on it is because my question is literally how can I do this a half a** way, when most people do it the right way but I just don't have the tools nor money to pay a body shop a couple grand for this. I recently bought my first 240 (1990 hatch) one rear quarter had been hit and has significant damage, so the previous owner put overfenders on. However they didn't cut out the original ones like they should have. So now I'm wanting to put my 18x10.5 +0's on the back and lower it but I have to get rid of them some how so they don't rub my tires. I know the correct way would be to take my fenders off and cut it all out and re weld it but I don't have any tools for that. The previous owner said I could take a heat gun and a
Baseball bat and roll the crap out of them until they sit flush with the overfenders. I just need some feedback to see what you guys think because I still am scared that it will come in contact with my wheels even if I did this. Has anyone else ever messed around with something like this? Keep in mind it won't matter to me how bad it's bent and messed up because obviously ill have the overfenders covering it. Thanks in advance for the input.

You pretty much have to cut the outter high up and reweld/seal the inner back to the outter. You can pull the original fenders but all you're gonna be doing is flatten it out. Get a big ass hammer and start banging the fender as high as you can. The tires could still touch the stock fenders and potentially shred your tires, but what other options do you have?

young 17 year old, im gonna tell you something that you should apply to your life, and especially your project car(s)
DO IT ONCE, DO IT RIGHT.
if the previous owner had abided by this, you wouldnt be in this situation.
so now its your turn to take this project and lead it in the right direction.
part of this means that if you dont have the $ to do something, dont do it.
save up til you have the money.
also, take care of it BEFORE you get the new wheels and suspension. get your priorities straight

It seems like I could cut about an inch off of the inner fenders without having to reweld back, is this a bad idea?

Get a decent sized hammer and beat it out. Its quicker than rolling the fenders w/ a baseball bat.

Well if cut/separate the inner and outer, you'll get wheel debris inside the cabin. Worst yet, water will get it and rust the living shit inside the cabin.

You mean to hammer them straight up or hammer them until they sit next to my overs? If I make them sit close to my overs they would still rub my tires with the size wheels that will be back there.
