Alright im gearing up to do my S14 kouki auto to manual swap, and I noticed that nobody EVER mentioned a crankshaft position sensor.
I have an S13 tranny which I KNOW doesnt have this part...

Is this needed for the car to start or is it just more OBDII boolshat that will throw a CEL ?

From what i have heard, the car won't start without it....but i have heard people say that it doesn't make a difference.... Some people told me that you might need to drill into the S13 bell housing in order to custom mount the sensor......I apologize because i didn't answer your question, but hopefully someone can pont the right direction.

S14 FSM says "The sensor is not directly used to control the engine system. It is used only for the on-board diagnostic of mis-fire."

Starts and runs fine without it. Mine needs to be replaced, so it throws a CEL.

Right. I have an S13 tranny in my S14 as well. I do get a MIL because of OBD, but thats it.
