Hey everyone, as we all know drift events in the Southeast tend to be few and far between. I'm posting a link below of an event to be held in Birmingham, AL on January 18th.

https://www.facebook.com/events/460630504057239/

There is more in-depth information on the event page, but if you have questions please PM me and I'll answer whatever I can. Please note I am not personally hosting this event, but I will be helping with it however I can.

This is a first time event for this group, and it's currently gaining really good local support with some people already committing to this from out of state as well.

I can't wait! Hopefully I can find an extra diff to weld and maybe just maybe some new e-brake cables. Just in case.

I'm excited as well. Be sure and tell your friends, hopefully we can get a decent turn out for this. What chassis do you have? I might have or know someone with an extra diff laying around.

S13 Coupe, right now I have a NA 300 VLSD that's shot-ish.

No one in drifting is going to this. Person setting it up doesn't even know what drifting is about. Don't waste your money. Will be low speed, stupid layout on a small lot.

That's funny, because I know a lot of people in drifting who are coming to this. Yes, the guy who came up with this doesn't know a lot about drifting but a lot of people who are helping him do. No one is forcing you to come, but putting forth an attitude like that is one of the issues with our industry today.

The entire idea of this event is to get people to come together to establish a drift scene here, since one doesn't exist. Barely any type of scene exists here, so why not try and help that instead of trashing it when you do not know anything about the event itself? There will be second and third gear drifts so it won't be that low speed.

There will be second and third gear drifts so it won't be that low speed. But who cares if it's going to be low speed, or what the layout is? It's about having fun, that's what drifting is about. Sounds to me like he does know what drifting is about, because he wants people to have fun.

Apparently you were not informed properly sir. I had a sit down meeting with the man running the event. FYI. There is a "drift scene" in Birmingham. You simply are not part of it because you don't know what it's about. Neither does the guy running the show. I have hosted four drift events in Birmingham. They were at venues much larger than the one he ie using. Know what your talking about before you open your mouth. Don't be someone else's advertising stooge.

It looks to me like you were told to advertise only what you were told.

I'm not advertising anything besides what I choose to say. But it's cool, you don't have to come to this event.

And I'm well aware of these events that you hosted, and I'm sorry if they were not successful. They were low speed too, that of which you were hating on. I know exactly what I'm talking about, and am actually very involved in this industry so please tell me again to "know what I am talking about before I open my mouth".

And I know about your meeting with him, and from what I've heard you were very rude to him and basically flat out told him that he would fail. Way to support your community, pal.

PS: I'm sorry AL Drift didn't work out for you.

I'm in drifting and I am going, as well as a lot of Nashville and Memphis guys that have been around for years. To be honest, I don't even care if it's 2nd gear, in the rain, and donuts around a pole...it's all motorsports and its all fun. With the price, it's the cheapest seat time.

That being said, the whole parking lot will be used, and it will be 2nd and 3rd gear. Super fun.

Again...get the facts straight buddy. I never told him he was going to fail. Everyone else did. I said I would be there and even offered to help, which was the purpose of the meeting. He was looking for help. He has attempted to contact me at all since then. Oh and my evrnts were VERY successful. Don't hate. The only reason Alabama Drift doesn't exist is because I cancelled the forum. No one took the reins in leading it once I threw in the towel. Don't get butt hurt because I know what I'm talking about.

Interesting. Its nice to see something happening in the Alabama/Mississippi area. I may try and make it out to watch as my 240 is not ready yet.

We would love to have your support. The more people that show up, the easier it will be to plan future events. We are working on another event that will be the day after Formula D Atlanta in which several pro drivers will come to, several drivers that are sponsored by Chase Bays. Given that this event turns out well, but so far we have a pretty good following.

What price range are you looking for? If you're wanting a really nice hotel, The Westin downtown is really great. Otherwise if you're looking for something cheaper, there are a few hotels around the airport that are pretty cheap and decent.
