hey, just wondering about ya'lls opinion on this. i was just thinking of taking off my spoiler, filling in the holes, n repaint it w/ no new spoiler to put on. what r some advantages/disadvantages to this, i don't really care about the appearance aspect of it cuz i know it'll look better than the supra style spoiler that was on the car when i bought it. there just aren't ne aftermarket s14 spoilers that i REALLY like that would go well w/ the car w/ no bodykit to go w/ it. might go stock se set up though, will have to c in a week or so here. thanks.

Hey there!
I've been thinking of doing the same on my S14. Getting rid of the spoiler and filling up the holes and respraying it. It's a much smoother look don't you think?
Anyway I don't think there are any real disadvantages, maybe one, less downforce during highspeed driving. But then again, it's not as if the wing is that huge, so the difference will be minimal. I think the wing is more cosmetical than functional. For real downforce, you need at least a bigger wing.
Oh, and personally, I would never put a Supra wing on an s14... maybe an R33 style wing... but not a Supra wing (but that's my personal opinion...).
One more thing, the reason why I've still not taken it off, is the fact that the spoiler itself costs quite a lot here in Belgium. People pay for it to have one... so should I take it off or not? (I bought my S14 secondhand FYI).
i don't think removing the spoiler would make soo much of a diffrent....some lower models 240's don't even have spoilers(correct me if i'm wrong)...i think the factory spoilers are only for looks...and just like you i'd prefer my car with no wings or nothing..just a nice nothing in the back..hehe...

well, if i had a stock spoiler like u teamcapsule i'd just leave it on. it's just that the original owner of my 240 had put the supra style spoiler on it, n i really don't like it at all. a lot of the drifters usually go w/ the no spoiler look, i kinda like how it looks, but i don't know if i want to get the se spoiler or not yet, i'll c what happens in the near future.

I really dont like non-functional spoilers, I think most cars looks much cleaner and smoother without one. My 240sx coupe didnt come with one and I have no intention of getting one. I dont think the OEM spoilers on the 240 even hit the air flow around the car at all, I read a post about that somewhere on this forum, that the OEM spoilers are just for looks.
the smooth look is much better, and you should get rid of that supra wing for sure, eww. people don't realize that they shouldn't put supra wings on cars that aren't supras. i haven't ever seen one look good.

well...i just called n got a quote, n the guy said to have the spoiler taken off, fill the holes, n have the trunk repainted it will be $125. think that's good? this is from a local shop, not a body shop. i'm not gonna do ne body work to my car at all cuz i want it to be done just right.
screw the spoiler. take it off its ugly and theres no areodynamic purpose theres not enough curve in it to produce any downforce that and its too small. take that crap off

what spoiler(s) r u talking about? the se one? i know my current one sucks, i feel embarassed almost when i drive it cuz it's on there, i can't wait to take it off. i need to look around at actual body shops though n c if i can get it done cheaper there. i know somebody will buy my spoiler for around $75 cuz it's in perfect shape, just not my style.
yea im talking bout the stock spoiler. its sux

i like it better than the ones on spoilers.com cuz it's the simplest one, but if i had a body kit, i'd get the one that's like the nismo270r one.

hmmmm might get rid of it then... I like the smooth look better as well... just a waste of the stock spoiler though, since I can't sell it, since almost no one owns S14's here in Belgium...
First lowering springs though...
What do you people think of those aluminum spoilers? Those would be functional at high speeds, right?

aluminum spoiler wouldn't be right for me, unless i had a car pushin' out over 700 hp where i would actually need the spoiler to really help out.

Seeing aluminum spoilers only remind me of The Fast And The Furious. Personally, I perfer a Bomex Type 1 wing for a 180SX or rather for an S14, something with a similar design. It's a drift wing.
However, I see your point. If it looks like ass and it's useless, take it off.

Yup not into those GT-wings... remind me too much of TFATF... Besides I never get to drive on a racingtrack, so there's no use for me to get one of those super downforce wings haha... And ppl will actually scratch up my car if I put it on, ppl here are really jealous
Stealth is the way to go, if I want my car to stay in good shape...

sounds like most ppl would rather go w/ the no spoiler at all route, seems like what i might do...possibly.

My car came with the factory spoiler, and I like the look of it, however I agree with you Blank, if my car came with a huge spoiler on it, I'd definately take it off.
From what I've heard, no spoiler really does anything unless you're going faster than 90 - 100 mph.
And although those aluminum wings are ugly as sin, they are the most functional at high speeds (100+).

Well, I dunno about 100+ I'd say more around 70-80. That's the speed that most sunroofs start whistling, so you know you've got a decent amount of air going by you. Thing is, do you really need downforce? I personally don't think so, but I dunno about everyone else.

i just want something that's simple, will do the job, n won't cost me over 1k or nething like that. but seriously, i guess i'm really picky about putting a nice spoiler on there w/ out a body kit.

Just go with no spoiler. The S14's look good with out them. The best part is that it cost's nothing.

yeah, i think i am, n still get a simple body kit in the future. only thing i'm gonna have to pay to have no spoiler w/ that supra one on. hopefully i'll get like $75 for it from somebody around here n then end up having to pay $50 extra (it's $125 to set it up w/ no spoiler).
i think the 240sx spoilers comes to use........ when u go really fast without a spoiler, i feel the back end is not sticking anymore

if you have to tail, leave it llike that. but since you already have holes in your trunk, it would probably be cheaper to just get a better looking tail that hopefully uses the same holes
