So some terrible terrible things happened to me motor and I need a new head. I've got some one with an sr20de fwd motor I can get for $50. Are the heads the same? All the parts in my head are reusable besides the valves and retainers. Can I get this head, take everything out of it and rebuild it with my sr20det parts?

IIRC Valves on DE's (atleast for the RWD DE's) are not sodium filled (RWD DET heads are), and thus are smaller, so the valve stems and valve guides are different. I don't know about the rest of the valve train.

Could it be machined to fit det valves?

I was talking about the valve stems, I don't know about the valve/valve seats. Sorry, edited my previous comment for clarity.
Heads are not the same. FWD heads put the distributor out the back of the head into the firewall if it was mounted on a RWD block. Look at pics of the two engines and look at where the CAS is on a DET and the distributor is on a FWD DE.
BTW - I do have a good condition RWD DET head I'll ship ya if you're interested. All the bits are in their own individual baggy, grouped by valve, so it's a simple toss it together and go affair.
