Ran my oil feed line yesterday and the wire that goes into the oil pressure sender fell out. I'm not that concerned as long as it is just for a dummy light and doesn't have anything to do with the performance of the engine. is this so?

the reason I don't care is because i'm putting a oil pressure gauge on soon.

Thoughts on why it hasn't thrown a CEL yet? is it just for a dummy light?

thanks.

Check Engine Light

It's just for the dummy light and it not wired to the ECU. I removed that sensor as well when I ran an oil line to my gauge.

the OEM oil pressure sending unit goes to the WARNING light, not the check engine light.

interesting. that hasn't come on either.

It won't because it is self grounded and if you unplug it, the circuit isn't complete.

sweet, that rocks! those things suck anyways. I heard of a guy who had 5psi oil pressure at idle and it still didn't throw a light.

Thanks thelinja.

This one time, at band camp, a guy, at a light, he had 5psi of pressure in his oil, and that was crazy! :chuckle snort snort:
