so i pulled everything out of my coupe and put it all in my vert, when i start it up i dont have a cluster. ive check continuity through the plugs all the way to the ecu. i just cant figured out why it doesnt work. i dont have any sort of reading on tach, speedo, fuel, or temp, but i have lights. please help.

Troubleshoot the ecu same thing happened to me but now only thing that doesn't work is the speedometer cause the speed censor

How to troubleshoot the ecu? Go to the passenger side take of the kick panel on the right side of the glove box an get to your ecu turn your key on and off get a flat head you'll see modes turn to the left see how many blinks you get and get your code hard to explain the process youtube videos and google for codes

make DAMN sure you didnt break/split/sever a wire in the subharness! same thing happened to me back in 2006 when i swapped my cluters for digital to analogue. my sub harness had the ground wire severed, HOWEVER, it was still hanging on just enough to make it look like it was complete. check your harness completely and make sure all your wires are good! Remember, thesea are 20+ year old cars and the wiring in them hasnt aged well, especially if youre in an area that has extreme cold or extreme heat environments!

Nice effort, but NO. ECU's are EXTREMELY un-common to go bad in any way on s-chasis cars. Oftertimes when people go out replacing ECU's it is because their issue was mis-diagnosed. Now, if the check engine light is on, it's always a good idea to troubleshoot the codes, but that won't get the OP any closer to solving his issue.
OP DO NOT screw around with the mode selector screw on the ECU unless you understand how to use it correctly. Like the dude I quoted said, go find some how-to videos on it. ALL Nissan ECU's of that generation use that same switch so there should be plenty of generic non-240 specific info out there.
Now, onto the actual problem. Start by checking all your fuses, DUH. Pull the cluster and make sure there is no damaged wiring behind there. Check the main dash harness plug from the engine harness by the ECU as well. If you can't find any obvious damage then pull out the voltmeter and start testing. 9 out of 10 times the harness damage is going to be very obvious. BUT there WILL be that 10th time where the wire is broken inside the insulation but the insulation is not broken. Get yourself a wiring diagram and start checking power and ground sources for the cluster. Look through the diagram thoroughly and see if the affected circuits have anything in common. I would probably even try another cluster just to be sure if I was fighting it really badly.

i searched the main chassis harness, i replaced the harness from the main to the cluster. i took a multimeter to the harness all the way to the ecu. check all the fuses. nothing so far. i also have an issue with my top not going down and my drivers window not going down. idk if i need the back window switches to get the windows to work. im not worried about the top i can just take actuator shit out.
