I just bought some new tires for the 240. They are 205 60R16 with the stock wheels. Has anybody tried this size rather than the 205 55R16? They seem like they are scrubbing on the springs....
P.S. I got a great deal on them. Thats why I got them.
That's stock size for s14 se wheels. Do you have any suspension mods? Might just be rubbing on the fender lining if thats the case just take it off you dont need it.

Nah. No suspension mods. My car just looks a lot higher of the ground than the 205 55R16's. When I ride in it feels really high. Its kinda freakish.
Oh shit I didn't read that you bought 205/60 size tires :smash: are you sure it's rubbing the srpings?

No I'm not sure. But I can't fit my fingers between the spring and the tire. The new tires are about 10mm larger on the side wall.

I'm just now realizing this is turning into a tech question....oops...
is your car lowered at all? Other supsension mods?
You could well be rubbing either your springs or, on compression, the "roof" of the fender well. Look around in there with a flashlight (with the wheel turned to full lock -- check both ways, so you can see everything) and see if you notice and scrubbing or shiny parts where paint's been scrubbed off; that would be where you rub (if at all).

translation = your car is not setup properly
either:
a) Your car has an outrageous body kit
b) Your running the absolute wrong wheels/tires on your car
on our cars, there is absolutely NO reason to run that series tire. I run either 225/50 or 245/45, all on 16x8's. If you run 17's, you'll need even less than that. What are you running, 14's or 15's? Time to upgrade...

Yes, they do feel like ridding around on a boat. but they are good for long distance driving and when the money is tight the ride like a charm...

if they're not the right size, does it really matter how much they cost?
I thought we bought stuff cuz they helped our cars, not because they were cheap
