Now for those who may know this answer and it very well could be a question to get flamed for. :bite:
I have a 1990 240sx S13 Hatch
I swapped the engine harness and engine to DOHC (s13 mani and so forth)
Now its my understanding that the consult plug under the dash on the SOHC chassis is not functional with the DOHC engine (I may be very wrong)
But I want to run Nistune on my Ka-T setup that I am installing. Is this going to be a plug and play deal on the car or is there something I need to do to make the consult cable work properly.
Thanks in advance let me know if there is anymore information that is needed as I am fairly new to the whole tuning aspect.

Nistune will replace the consult entirely, Consult is the 16bit software that interfaces with teh factory ecu, I dont think Nistune is going to retain that, but you are paying for software that is much more advanced so you wouldnt want to go back to consult.

You are going to need to source a 91+ consult plug as the 89-90s don't have them. Then its just a matter of wiring them up to the ECU. There are a couple of good write ups somewhere on here.
Ultimate, he needs the consult port for the KA24DE version of Nistune, they did not include USB on that type board so you need to plug into the consult port to do anything to the ECU.
Straight from the Type 3 board page.
Note: You will require consult cable to connect the laptop to your vehicle. Additionally tax, shipping and transaction fees may apply.
The Type 1 board included USB because Nissan did not use consult for cars 1990 and older.

Roger, thanks for clarifying.
Oh and by the way, wiring up the consult port is hella easy. i would recommend using wire that is shielded well, as I have noticed some electrical interference issues with my personal consult setup.

Would it be easier if i just went with Enthalpy and then an SAFC and stuck with that?

Go Nistune. You can find the consult plug in almost any 91+ Nissan, also supposedly all Nissan dealers were forced to stock them a few years back by Nissan so you might be able to find a brand new one.
