View Full Version : 240sx vs. Truck :ugh:
I just was hoping to get some advice from you guys, I have been trying to decide between keeping my current car, a 1989 240sx F/B, or selling it and getting a loan from my parents to buy a 98-01 Toyota Tacoma. I really love mudding and driving on the beach, but I also love my 240sx. My main mindset is that i would like a nice car/truck with nice interior and that looks good. If i get a truck it has to have offroad tires and a little bit of lift. If i keep my car I will need to finish rebuilding my sr20 and put that in. I was planning on spending 10-12,000 on the tacoma, but if i keep my 240 i would just nned to spend whatever it takes to get all this:
Paint Job-$600
New Carpet-$150
S14 Seats+Belts-$250
5-Lug Conversion-$450
300zx Rims-$250
SR20 Gasket Set-$300
SR20 ECU-$300
SR20 Wiring Harness-$200
SR20 Crank Angle Sensor-$150
SR20 Intake Camshaft-$50
Misc. Machine Work-$600
Intercooler-$600
Those are my estimated prices for a total estimated $3900
Please tell me if these prices seem wrong and tell me why cars are better than trucks :eek3: thanks alot, i jsut wanted to get my thoughts in writing.

Car=Performance for street (unless your damnedbutdetermined:D)
Truck=fun for off-road.
Personally I'd take the 240sx because I am an agressive driver and I hate lifted trucks.

Oh and why a taco? I'd personally prefer a V-8 dak or frontier :rawk:

I wouldn't get the truck. It's too small of a truck. I don't know, I prefer a big truck over a smaller one. Get a used Chevy Z71 4x4.
thanks for the opinions even though most of you are WRONG!
just kididng, i like small trucks because they are more agile, can go more places off road and are easier to handle on road. plus with gas prices going up a nice v6 doesnt sound as bad as a big v8.

I still think...
Frontier>Tacoma
Come on! Base engine is the KA24DE,and optional 3.3 and 3.3 supercharged!!! I wouldn't get a taco unless it was a '05 X-Runner or a major good deal.
EDIT: What kinda gas mileage does an SR get? I would geuss that a 2.0 4 banger would get better then a 3 something litre V6 truck...

tacomas...any of them...will run for days. quite a few of my friends who go mudding have tacomas of various years, and i swear, no matter what you throw at em, they take it. if i were to get a truck to lift and go mudding, itd definately be a tacoma...or a tundra.
id still take the 240 though, because i like driving a car more than a truck. just a simple preferance. i like the speed, the agility, the GAS MILEAGE, and the styling.
good luck, both are awesome choices.
