Apexi noir or hybrid megaphone.

HKS sport.

I have one of each and I like them both, but the HKS is much more subtle.

rsr exmag would be my first pick. Hks hi power is pretty quiet for what it is too.

Apexi Noir Exhaust, I have it on mine and mine is KA and still sounds quiet. Johnny law doesn't look my way. I also love that it's flat black as well to draw the least amount of attention and 95db compliant.

BRM Exhaust | Specializing in performance catback exhaust for your 240sx, Sentra, Maxima, Versa, Altima, and other Nissan vehicles. (http://www.brmexhaust.com/) + the longest resonator they can fit.

this, I've had this exhaust on a couple of my 240s for these same reasons: quiet and inconspicuous.

The HKS JASMA exhausts are hella quiet, yet retain full flow... NTM very high quality.

I run a 5Zigen exhaust on my S13... It sounds pretty close to stock at idle; and is only 'slightly' loud under boost with a bit of a growl.

It came with the 180SX when I bought it in Okinawa back in 2005... I love the note, it looks pretty unassuming; and not very many people have one.

Looks good man.. The fact that it's not the typical flashy "coffee can" type exhaust is definitely a plus.. That's one thing i don't like about the HKS HI-power that much

If you're cheap, ISIS and Megan make a dual tip exhaust that sounds quiet.

I'm running an Apex'i Noir on my s14 also. I daily it and its definitely not loud. Don't get much attention from law enforcement, as my car looks pretty stock.

A good resonated test pipe or a catalytic converter can make a big difference as well.

If I were to buy a new exhaust I would choose between these three.

I think they discontinued it but the chief reason I bought my Circuit Sports is because it has both a resonator and a double exit through a single canister like the factory s14 one. the only thing I dislike is that the tips angle up instead of going straight, possibly for ground clearance but it's still annoying that it exits so close to my bumper. I also run it through a 3" Catco high flow cat. keeping the Catalyzer should help keep it a bit quieter.

I also suggest doing what I did which is paint it with exhaust paint around the whole back end to keep it more subtle. the more stock it looks the less likely people will think it's not stock. Plus it adds a bit of protection from crap flinging up from the road.

I've always heard great things about how quiet and discreet the BRM exhaust was, but I can't find any sound clips of it on an SR...

RSR ExMag Sleeper look, quiet as hell. By far the quiest non raspy exhaust you can ask for. I'm super picky with this and I've had the exhaust since darn near day one. Quality piece for sure.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm working on a 2JZ swap, and I'm probably going to pick up an HKS Sport (not Hi-Power) exhaust. It still has 3" piping, but only a 3.25" exhaust tip (no coffee can here) and planning on slapping the biggest resonator I can as well. There are a couple decent quality videos on YouTube of KA cars with the exhaust, which have a solid low tone, and it's not overbearing at all. I think FRSport has them for like $350ish.

Definitely let us know what you end up with and how it sounds. I am a big fan of subtlety, so this is right down my alley.

JASMA is a certification of some sort of Japanese compliance, not a brand or product name. I've seen this often.

I think the HKS sport is even more 'sleeper' (sleepier?) than the Ex-Mag. 3.25" tip is very stealth, and it's pretty darn quiet.

Kinda confused why anyone in the US that isn't in california want a quiet low pro exhaust system. No where else has as strict laws as us including exhaust noise level and or but not limited to to getting sent to the state ref etc.

I have the Nismo 3in exhaust, it is very quite. Not on an SR, will be KA-T soon though!
It is a little flashy when polished up though :naughtyd:

because loud exhausts will get you pulled over anywhere in any state, just depends on which cop hears you at what time.

plus, have fun driving long distances with a loud car. It sucks.

Loud cars are for obnoxious attention-craving individuals.
I could sit at a stop light here in Missouri with open downpipes engulfing a squad car next to me in flames, but why dance on a thin line and tempt the boundaries? I would rather not contribute to giving the police a reason to start profiling modded cars as they do in California.

My car isn't loud at idle, but once the skinny pedal is smooshed, it's pretty loud. I also had a screamer pipe from my external gate that didn't help things. Hopefully it's quite a bit tamer now that it's plumbed back into the exhaust. I also had to remove my resonator because it rotted out.

I'd rather turn the boost up a single PSI for that power than deal with an obnoxious exhaust

Yeah man... Having a conversation wit your girl inside the car while cruising at 80mph is very impractical with loud ass blast pipes..

But on another note, I'm still shopping around for the exhausts... rsr sounds great as does the Apexi Noir but I may do it like someone mentioned it here and paint the muffler flat black just to avoid the unwanted attention.

I can vouch for this!
I also live in California (Los Angeles to be exact)
I have an RSR ExMag on my Turbo KA with a 14" Dynomax resonator and a custom 3" magnaflow catalytic and recirculated wastegate, and let me tell you - at WOT I can hear the engine rev more than my exhaust!

Maybe it is TOO quiet! I tried to take a video clip of it but my phone's mic sucks donkey and it doesn't sound right.
And as for droning on the highway... it's almost none existent too; you can just hear some rumbly notes out the back and that's about it.
As far as cops: I've gone past them many many times, and never once did they glance my way because of my exhaust. I have driven in front of cops too on the street and freeways and they never pay attention to me.

I got pulled over while basically idling down the road for my loud exhaust. It was mostly because my S13 looks like a pile (project) and has a huge 4.5" can, but cops around here are dicks. I can get a nice $120 "loud exhaust" ticket every single time they pull me over for it. That is regardless of noise level also. It can be under the limit of 93 dB and still receive a "loud exhaust" ticket because it is obviously aftermarket.

Then there are practicality reasons like having a conversation while driving, but I only have 1 seat in the car soooo....

RalliartRsX

What I hate about getting pulled over for "loud" exhaust is that it is all discretionary, and not at all scientific (the ear is NOT a good source of measurement and that is what most officers go by when pulling people over and issuing these non-sensical tickets!)

Do I hate loud exhausts?? You damn skippy! Can't stand them, its annoying and just adds to noise pollution. Do I agree with how the ticketing process is implemented?? NOt one damn bit!

With that being said: I have a Apexi Noir 3" and let me tell you. Silent as a mouse. Warming up in the morning, you cant't hear a thing, and in the cabin, I actually have to keep the radio on level 1-2 as that is all that is needed or it simply drowns out the exhaust!

Coming from a 3" straight through to a 3", cat, muffled exhaust, I will NEVER go back to a loud setup (especially since they are wort the same for flow numbers!)

I've got an APEX'i N1 Evo thats pretty quiet as its resonated and has a muffler.

Also the ISIS MBSE Type E exhausts are stock appearance and have muffler/resonator and are pretty quiet from what I have seen on some customer cars.
