I have a 1990 240sx and the driver's side power window recently stopped working. It would work if i jiggled the plug that goes into the amp but now it stopped working completely. Unfortunately my window was down a bit when it stopped working so now I need to get it to go up to its normal height. I've tried to just lift it but it won't stay up. There is still a clicking in the amp when i hit the switch. Any help is appreciated...

yes, and next time don't bring an old thread back as well.....
go to a junkyard and save yourself some money.

This isn't an old thread. I searched through all the other ones like this on the forum but could not find the answer. Thanks for the help so far, it seems everyone's pointing at the motor. Anyone have any other ideas or do I not have a chance at saving my money...?

take the door panel off and try to jump the wires for the motor. if the motor is still good the window will go up, or down, depending on which way you connected the jumpers, and you will probably need a new amp. if not, it's time for a new motor.

the one you you brought up in chat was old.....
Anyway, to save money go to a junkyard. Maybe you'll get lucky and it will already be pulled. Most yards will have a waranty on it too, 30-90 days, so in case it fails again.... Also, just so you don't get ripped off, call the dealership and get a price, that way you can compare when you go to the junkyard,....

My '92 had a similar problem. The driver's side power window would intermittently stop or start working. What I did to fix it was this: remove power window amp from door, disassemble (remove the circuit board from the plastic housing). What I found was that one or two of the pins on the connector separated from the copper traces on the board. I simply re-soldered them all back and reassembled. It has been working great ever since. This is a fairly easy thing to check and fix without having to replace anything.
