Since alarm, kill switch, wheel locks, and all these another stuff cant seem to stop theif from stealing cars I came up with my own security system. Putting a dummy inside my car to scare them away. Anybody ever try this before or have any other ideas?

I used to want to hook a capacitor up to my door handles, then if someone tried to open the door before I dissengaged the switch, it would shock the hell out of them. But then I thought about a little kid wandering over to my car and getting zapped and decided it wasn't a good idea.

If someone really wants to steal your car, there isn't really anything you can do to stop them besides removing all your valuables, and leaving your car on blocks, with no gas every night.

I don't think anybody would fall for that... and for as much as a mannequin would probably cost you could get an alarm, some wheel locks, and two of those unbreakable autolocks (one clutch and one gas for ultra-redundancy).

I used to have a 91 supra where the kill switch was only activated if you opened the driver's side door before the passenger... Made me look like a real jackass when I was all alone, because I'd use the key to open the passenger, use the automatic locks, walk ALL THE WAY around the car and open the driver... Made me look really odd when I was with one of the guys, made me look like a perfect gentleman when I was on a date, when all I was doing was making sure to not have my date push the car while I pop the clutch

removable steering wheel.
how are they gonna drive without one.

i use that brake lock thing that goes over the brake pedal. but then most of these security devices only help to either deter or delay the theft.

Yeah but you are going to carry your steering wheel around with you :ugh: ?? Maybe you could stick it under the driver seat so it looks like your car has no steering wheel?

i'm considering gatting a removable hub, since i live in the hood. cars aren't stolen often, but stuff is stolen out of cars all the time. i'm afraid of getting my steering wheel stolen. just 6 hex screws and it's out.

you could get a blow up doll and put a shirt on it, that's cheap...i don't know how well it'll work though... it'll probably work better if you had slightly tinted windows where they wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

but whenever u get lonely....u know where to go :naughty: :boink:

man, this is one funny thread....

the dummy gotta be really life like, wearing sunglasses and a hat... and you can go on carpool lanes,.

if someone really wants your car, they will get it, even lojack is not 100% safe..

so the best bets are still hidden kill switches and removable steering wheel, i don't think you have to carry it around all the time, just hide it really good in your car, if your car is a mess like mine, stuff it under a pile of thrash/clothes in your car

i say a fuel kill swtich, where you have something of a key sort that would kill your fuel passage, then you could take the key with you, noone is gonna get passed that..... just make sure they it is an un pickable lock

Ace style locks are pretty hard to pick,at least I know they used to be...

I've seen a key that was shaped like a cross,it was three traditional key ends, that would be pretty hard to fuckin pick :hyper:

OFF TOPIC: Lol...All this talk about a dummy makes me think of when I was in NC this winter...there was a cop car parked on the outskirts of this little town with a dummy in the driver seat,he had huge 80's style sunglasses on and a trooper hat on..

Yeah, they do that around here a lot, even leaving the park lights on at night (yes, all damn night) and people check up and slow down all the time, flach their brights on oncoming cars to get them to slow down and drunk drivers avoid the area, keeps violations down... Til people realize what it is and try and get smart and they surprise your ass with a live cop/sherrif/trooper sittin in that car

Im thinking a would be car thief would notice that something was wrong with the dummy, like, somebody sitting in a car ALL NIGHT LONG? Maybe if you left ur stereo playing and you got the dummy to move around like he or she was dancing, home alone style. haha, oh and give the dummy a gun, then when someone tries to break in the dummy can blast that sukka.
