I need some advice from an Apple expert. I have an iPad 2 that I use at home. We do not have broadband in the house so no wi-fi network. I access the internet via the cellular network (docomo).

What I would like to do is print wirelessly. I've been reading about airprint and the airport express and the more I read the more confused I get. Can anyone tell me exactly what I need to buy to be able to print from my iPad via wireless?

Do I need to get an airprint printer and then plug it into the USB port of an airport express access point?

The USB port on the airport only works for using with computers, not iOS devices. You'll need an airport or some together wifi access point, and then connect both your ipad and your AirPrint compatible printer to it via wifi

I appreciate the advice. Would the Airmac Express base station work as the wifi access point? I was thinking about getting this:

Amazon.co.jpF Apple AirMac Express ƒx[ƒXƒXƒe[ƒVƒ‡ƒ“ MC414J/A: ƒpƒ\ƒRƒ“EŽü•Ó‹@** (http://www.amazon.co.jp/Apple-AirMac-Express-%E3%83%99%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B9%E3%82%B9%E3%83%86%E3%8 3%BC%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A7%E3%83%B3-MC414J/dp/B008CVTN4I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1383431819&sr=8-1&keywords=airport+extreme)

If I had that and connected my iPad and to it via wireless and then connect my Airprint printer to the Airmac via wireless as well I should be able to print right off my iPad?

Technically you can use an airprint compatible printer(I think HP makes several) without using wifi. All you would do is connect to the airprint compatible printer via it's printer name/ssid persay.
