Which ones should I get? I was gonna order 60mm Nismo studs, but the price is crazy. Moroso seem to be a cheaper alternative

http://www.behrents.com/Merchant2/4.19/merchant.mvc?Category_Code=MOR-WHEEL-STUDS&Screen=CTGY

at around 12 bucks for a pack of 10 .

nismo wheel studs go for about 62 bucks for a pack of 10.

I mean i can spend like $110 for nismo studs, or less than $30 for moroso studs.

I just dont know what moroso size i should get.

Any help will be appreciated.

aren't they "ARP" studs, not APR? ... APR is Annual Percentage Rate, used to calculate monthly payments on mortgages, credit cards and other loans. Ha!
Go with Moroso if they make 12*1.25. Nismo are nice (I have them) but not really worth the money. Also, If you plan on running bolt on spacers at all in the future, get the 50mm studs, not 60mm. 60mm is probably only good for some hard core race-only applications - where adapter spacers won't be used.

(correction)
ARP = high quality bolts, nuts, studs, etc..

APR = shitty wings and other crap

If you get studs, check with Escort Racing.. I hear they sell them at bargain pricing.

I have NISMO studs on my car, I had an incident with them. I first tried the shorter ones, they sucked balls.. at 7-8 bucks each, 2-3 snapped. I was pissed. Then, I ended up needing the longest ones, so I got those.. much higher quality.

So.. be careful. The good quality ones are gold colored and you can hear the solidity if you tap them on something hard.. you can hear it. The shitty ones are soft and you can see it, they are silver in color.

um..i think u might have meant it the other way...

anyways, apr quality isn't crap, its just not what you would personally buy for your car (fyi: i don't like their wings either)
i had one of their strut bars for my other car, it was very high quality...my friend also got his cf mirrors from them , and it was very good quality as well.

it all depends on what you consider high quality, and how you rate it.

at the time i was looking, ARP didnt sell the studs with the proper knurl diameter.. so.. back to summit the parts went.. and straight to NISMO i went.

My friend got them from Escort racing years later (about 3 months ago) and his are fine.

newb question: is there a such thing as studs that are TOO long?? i mean, in theory, it should be okay if you have open-end lug nuts...right? i just want might ride safe and convenient for the future in case i ever want to add spacers i'll have some room to work with. is this okay to do?

Actually, ARP make studs that fit S13. PDM-Racing sells them. You will have to change the lugnuts afterwards though...

Lets just say if your running a wheel with caps on them, and they arent spaced enough, your not running caps.

but for 5 lug cars they won't fit the fronts and you've gotta use moroso studs, which have a different thread than the ARPs for the rear....

i think that is them, escort racing is located out here in the socal area.. but that looks like the right site (i only briefly looked at it) -- give them a call and see if they can assist.

as for ARP, i recall they ONLY offer the studs for ONE of the hubs.. i cant recall if it was front or back, or s13 or s14.. BUT.. it WAS NOT the correct knurl diameter for ONE set of hubs.. I think it was for the S14 front hubs I run (5-lug). So, I ended up sending them back and buying NISMO ones.

Jeeez.. what a HUGE amount of work I went through just to get extended studs and spacers.. huge huge amounts of work. But, atleast thats all over with and my wheels/spacers are perrrrrfect. Big thanks go to Fred Goeske at WheelSpacers.. he's a great person to deal with. If he didnt sell spacers, I would probably pay him JUST for the stories he has.. he's a very cool person.
