The purpose of this thread is to share your story of when you were stranded/broke down BECAUSE of your S-chassis S13,S14,or S15.
I know all of us have had this issue. So please share your frustration here.

I went out for my weekly Friday night GMR run, i drove from fullerton, ca to lone hill with no issue everything was fine get to the foot of the mountain and still no issue start rippin up hill and everything is fine get the the 3 way split chilled left my car ON gazed at the stars analyzing every aspect of my life then i started to get a bit creeped out seeing as how i failed to realize that i was completely alone so i headed down hill, i was coasting in neutral then i look at my temp gauge and the needle is on the H porn star style right on it lol at first i looked twice and even rubbed my eyes i could fucken belive it so i pull over shut it off pop the hood everythings cool visable leaks , i grab the rad hose and its ice cold while the other is scorching hot , dam thermostat got stuck closed i look at my phone and i am greeted by a "no service" msg fucken verizon rule the air huh this is what i pay 80 bucks a month for. anyways i get in my car and start thinking of a plan as i am doing this a large lifted WHITE BOY FORD creeps past with a giant Confederate flag on a pole and when i mean giant i mean fucken huge proudly waving blocking out the moon casting a shadow over my Japanese sports car. the dude sticks his hand out and flips me the bird traditional Caucasian with the duck hunting cammo sweater and everything. i tellem to go fuck himself they pull over on the dirt and start kicking up all sorts of dirt and rocks onto my car then they take off. so then i turned the car on the temp was at half way so what i did was pick up speed to make it up the hills then turn the motor off while going down hill. i do this the whole way till i get the shell gas station where i called my gf and asked her to call triple A, so she calls back and tells me that we only have free towing for 7 miles.......wtf??? what kind of triple a is that??? they tell me its going to be $340 to get towed back home , so i told her to cancel it ill figure it out. so i waited it was around 11 when i got to the shell station i waited till about 1250 almost 1 and decided to take off so im getting on the the 57 south and the temp shoots up right when i get onto the on ramp as i hit the peak of the on ramp its already on the H and then BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DIVINE INTERVENTION !!!!! The good lord came down and opened up my thermostat at the right moment and the temp drops half way so fuck it i floor it pushing up the hilll trying to pick up as much speed to prepare for this on/off method i have been using and as i start getting to the top it starts coming up again so i start heading down hill and its pretty cold/getting foggy so i floor it again flying down hill making it all the way home with the temp slightly below the H made it home in like 20 min didnt start to over heat till i slowed down in town. but i made it. i would rather pay 30 bucks for a head gasket and do the work at my shop then get raped by a tow truck company. the odds where against me that night but the good lord pulled got the old bitch back home. called up nissan buena park and my thermostat is on its way!! only spent $20 bucks :rl:

thanks for taking the time to read my post, hopfully it made you laugh it really happened i thought i was gonna get linched made it home no blown head gasket alls well, and life is good.

share your storys!

My S13 left me stranded all the damn time, but it was 5spd and fun. My S14 has been very reliable so far, but is auto, boring and has a leak in the fuel tank.

Bad girls ain't no good, but good girls ain't no fun.

Good job on not spending $340 on towing. Now use some of the money you saved on this.. (https://www.hookedonphonics.com/)

I remember long ago when I used to have to carry a pipe to wedge in my engine bay and slam the starter a few times. It looked like domestic violence on my car. People would be like what are you doing. I said, starting her up lol.

Then there is the time the engine blew. Piston blew out of the side of the block.

There are really to many to remember over the past 12 years.

I got my s13 about a year and a half ago with 105k on the clock, completely stock.

I've put 30k on my s13. Got it as an auto and did about 25k like that, gf even drove it regularly to school. Never-ever-not-even-once broke down on me. Brake MC did start leaking on my GF once and she had it towed home.

Drove it to Key west, drove it to Savannah GA, drove it from FL to Socal no issues, doing 12-14hr driving days. In Socal I had it converted to manual (thanks racepar) and drove it back to FL with no issues at all.

I have done nothing to engine at all, except regular maintenance. Oil every 3k, coolant flush, replaced the hoses, belt and spark plugs and a leaky injector when I first got it. everything else is interior, suspension and brakes, which simply made it safer to drive.

I guess that's the magical formula for keeping a car running with no problems.

my S chassis only failed me when I failed it. Moral of that line is take care of your shit and the car will work just fine. Ignore it and shit will break. Seriously I have had shit happen with some of the S13's I have owned over the year but none have never left me completely stranded because I knew what to do to keep it going.
I have driven so many S13's back and forth between LA and San Francisco average of 5 to 7 times minimum per car and never had a failure to the point of needing a tow.
Though I do have AAA Premier( long distance tow) just in case.

Didnt realize my slave cylinder was leaking.... Went to school, perfect clutch.. Came out to leave about an hour and a half later and I had no clutch, and a puddle of brake fluid under my car. -_-

Ended up calling my grandpa to come up with a spare slave cylinder I had at the house, a jack, and some jack stands and replaced the slave/bled the clutch in the college parking lot hahah.

ill tell you past issues that have left me stranded before since i got too many stories lol.

bad fuel (87 octane @ cheapest gas station) so drove onto the sidewalk an parked my old s13 to drain fuel and refuel with fuel cleaner

no spark/flooded motor from fuel. had mulitple break downs from those two issues from my old ka-t.

bogging/dying throttle from maf/wiring issues.

had a fuel pump die on me too.

bad/clogged iacv made me have stumbling and dying idle.

bad egr getting stuck open also caused really low idle/bucking and shutting off my engine randomly.

ive never needed a tow, always fixed it on the spot but they always recurred.

the only time my car had any trouble was 3 hours away from home at a drift event. On the way home my turbo worked its way loose...

yay trying to tighten a red hot turbo on the side of the thruway at 10 at night. I had to take one of my socks off and soak it in water to use as a glove but I finally was able to get it done. I had work the next day and reallyyy wanted to catch some z's.

lesson learned, welded turbz to mani

Last week an intermittently failing fuel pump cut out on me 6 miles from home. My fault for going out, I thought I had fixed my no start problem and didn't test it more. Ended up costing me $150 for the county to have someone come get me.

Also I ran out of gas in my first S13 hatch. Fuel gauge didn't work and neither did the trip meter / odometer. Did some bad math and ended up in the median because I thought I had more gas in the tank.

That's it, pretty good for having an s-chassis for 7 out of the past 8 years. I do regular maintenance.
