He wants a 240. He's been into it for...a couple of months or something. He's talking to me about SRs and crap. He's claiming that a stock SR can beat a stock 300zx TT. I was like :wtf:? I told him the stock SR has ~200HP (talking about redtop)and the TT has ~300HP. He was all bitching and crap about how the SR has 400HP stock. I'm like...I don't want to talk to you anymore. I knew him when he was a kid. He was really cool and all. It's funny how he thinks he knows so much about it after 2 months. I've been into this crap for like 2 years and I know for SURE I don't know nearly as much as 90% of Zilvia. Ugh, just had to rant

I don't care what he plans to do with it. My point being is that he's fucking clueless! 400 HP stock? Come on now. I could care less what he does with his 240, but at least learn some facts before you try to look cool and give me BS facts

That's why you need to break his spirit... with facts.
Just find some dyno sheets of stockish SRs with their sub-200 whp, print a bunch of them out, and leave them in various places where he'll find them: in his locker, his backpack, on his civic...
Then do the same thing with pictures of 240s that got crashed from failed drifts.
If he still wants a 240 after that, just tell him to come to FreshAlloy and introduce himself and tell us all his plans for the car. We'll take good care of him. :Ownedd:

My point was only this: We were all clueless noobs at on point (provided you weren't born with a FSM imprinted in your brain). Rather then coming on here and ranting about this guy, why not let him come on here himself. Sure he'll get flamed and poked fun at it, but hopefully he will also learn something. Or even just try and help the kid like Salty X said, give him the real facts. When it comes to "Bandwagon" jumpers, or Noobs, or whatever you want to call them, it's best in the long-run to convert rather then condemn them. The more of them that are converted to a reasonable way of thinking, the fewer rice-boys there are out there to attract the wrong attention to our make and model of cars.

yeah, i was providing him with facts. I linked him to srswap.com to show him the specs of the SRs. He seems pretty rich to. His parents are willing to fork 10k+ for his car. Damn, wish I had that much :hammer:

Glad I live in the ghetto where no one knows what the fuck a 240 is. SO because I bought a 240 1 year ago makes me a bandwagon jumper because I honestly just wanted something sporty, coupe, and rwd and most important was in my price range.

i got into 240sx 3 years ago. but i'm a big time nissan fan before that. got my car a year ago. i wouldn't consider someone a bandwagon jumper who got there 240sx recently. it's only true if:
1. get a 240sx because of popularity or trend not knowing one dam thing about it. (even if they know, why switch to the car if only to follow the trend)
2. went to a d1 competition, saw how cool it was to drift and got one.
etc.
feel free to add to the list :D

I guess I am a bandwagon jumper. I am about to buy my first 240 here in a couple weeks. I've been messing around with them for a couple years now and other cars also. I am not buying it with the intent of being the next Keiichi Tsuchiya or even Takumi. But as something to play with on the side. I went to a couple Driftdays and D1 events but that is not why I'm getting it either.

ok ok, sorry guys. I didn't mean to call everyone who bought a 240 within the last 1-4 years bandwagon jumpers (hell, that would make me a bandwagon jumper too). I was just kind of annoyed by the comments my friend made (he's from another state so I don't talk to him much). I should have been more clear. What I consider a bandwagon jumper is a person who wants to buy the 240 and knows NOTHING about it. All they know is that it's the "ULTIMATE drift car". He didn't know the 94s were only convertibles. He told me to look for a S14 between the years 95-97. When I asked how come he didn't want a 98, he was simply BAFFLED by the fact that there was even a 98. He thought I was lying or something
Seriously guys...400HP stock? come on :smash:

I met this kid that says he's gonna buy a skyline for his first car. I just kinda looked at him for a second and then proceeded with our conversation. I tried my best to maek him understand the fact that you just can't go to a local dealership and pic one up. Lets just say he reads too much super street and import tuner. Anyway, there kids like this everywhere. You just gotta edumatcate them. :coold:

i could care less when you bought your car. why is this turning into "im a badass cuz i've had my car longer! before anyone had a 240 or was drifting, I was already a pro!" If thats what matters most, then my grandma's fucking real OG. She bought her '89 brand new (not really, but thats what some of you guys sound like)!!!! I'm with s13dr1ft, this shit is just getting out of hand. Yeah, some guys who are new with cars/240s/WHATEVER are jackasses, but they were jackasses before they had the car, and will continue to be jackasses after they get rid of it. i think its cool you had your car so early I was 10 when you bought your car. you were into the scene way before alot of people. but does that make you cool? no. does that mean all people getting into 240s are asshole noobs? no. does it mean you can share way more knowledge than most other people? FUCK YES. you can be an ignorant asshole, or you can try to open some eyes. shit, you can just sit there and not do anything, feel free. but get your head out of your ass.

Thats my name: ASSHAT. I am ASSHAT!!!; because I have always helped younger socal 240sx owners like nitekids/ henry, budweiser, brian/oversteer, grant, and etc... But i havent seen any quality newbies recently; who care about the car or have ability to learn things on their own, instead i see jackasses who seem to have alot of questions because they had read some import car magazines and/ or think of themselves as the l33t speak 180sx/240sx/silvia masters... because they have just got a 89 s13 slapped some n1 duals on it and some used wheels. When it comes to those types i'd rather share genital herpes with them then car knowledge. The same bandwagon idiots who have attracted law enforcement onto 240sx in the city of industry and made me want to sell my car so i can buy a G35coupe or EVO, so i wont have to put up with idiots.
I am an asshole to newbies and idiots definitely 100%, and dam proud of it.

I got my 240sx on march of 2003... but i wanted one like 1 year and a half before that, i remember they had a 240sx SE 93 in the nissan dealer used cars, i did a TV advertising for them i wonder if they can pay me with the car or at least sell it for cheap, but they wanted $8000 dollars for it (they never sell that car in mexico) was too much money for a "old" car, anyway other oportunity came and i got it from a friend of a friend, there is like 4 S13 on my city and 1 S14 (one of the managers of the nissan dealer) O_o
I dont feel like jump in to the bandwagon, i really wanted a RWD-small-sports-inexpensive car some time ago

Upon receiving an insurance settlement, a friend of mine purchased a (then) brand new 1992 240sx hatchback (IIRC, $16-18K).
I thought the car was a f*cking joke: 155hp, optional LSD, gigantic 4 cylinder engine, no turbo option, derivative styling etc. What I really didn't understand was that the Japanese homemarket had such incredible cars like the Skyline and the Pulsar and they sent this turd over!
My attitude towards cars has changed alot since then. I think the 240 has lots going for it: It is great value and a fun all around car. They're cheaper than dirt so nearly any modification is somewhat affordable. The community is very active and (somewhat) supportive. The aftermarket is definitely 'there.' All are great reasons to jump on the bandwagon. I'm glad I did!

What is a "bandwagon jumper," anyway? If you were not the first person to buy an s13 or s14 you are a "bandwagon jumper" to some extent. Is there a "set number" that defines who is a "bandwagon jumper" and who isn't? I'm ther 599th person to buy an s13 so I'm not a "bandwagon jumper" haha
I got my s13 in 1992. These cars became popular in 1989. That was 15 years ago. I jumped on the "bandwagon" because I saw the potential of these cars because of their fr layout. When drifting came around in 1995 I was aware of it but I couldn't get into it because it was unheard of in the states and there were no events back then. Pretty much anyone who is into drifting or who likes these cars because they are so popular now is a 'bandwagon jumper." Think about it, people started fixing up these cars back in 1989 and drifting started in Japan in 1995. The bottom line is that we all jumped on the "bandwagon" at some point in time. Stop complaining. If you want to be different then move on to another less popular car
