yesterday i decided to go ahead and replace the one bad strut on the car. okay, simple enough. when i go to remove the wheel a lugnut breaks OFF. okay, no biggy, studs are cheap. the replace ment stud went in fine, i tapped it in, no problem. fit snug, awesome! test fit wheel...

why isn't the lug nut going down?

why is the whole shaft spinning?!

CRAAAAAAAAAAAAP

apparently the splines that are supposed keep the stud from spinning are worthless. to top it all off an enkei tuner lug is stuck...

so, the wheel is on and the stud can't be tightened. taking it to the shop is out of the question since the caliper is currently off.

what the hell should i do guys? i'm about to run out of profanity.

are you sure you got the right stud? could it be the wrong spline type? just a thought....

i got what autozone gave me, it fit perfect, and looked like the others... which is in no way a solution or means of possibly solving the current assfucking autozone has given me.

do you have a Nissan dealership near you?

can you take that one back out, as well as another one and actually count/measure the splines? if they are different or smaller, they won't grab and therefore won't work.

dude, did you even read my post? i CAN'T remove the wheel which means i CAN'T remove the lug nut from the stud. if i COULD i'd put the caliper on, take it to my family's ford dealership and tack weld that bastard so i could back it off and inspect the damage. i CAN'T so i need a way to REMOVE the stud.

i'm not trying to be a butt, i just want people to start reading posts better, seriously...

Exact same thing happened to me at the track. Get a big hammer (like a mini-sledge) and break the stud off by banging it one way till it bends, then bang it the other way. Just keep doing that till it breaks. When you put the new stud in, get an open ended lug nut to help tighten the crap outta the stud from the other side of the hub to pull it through, cause it probably came loose cause you didn't tighten it enough.

the wheels i have on it have recessed lug holes so doing that is kind of out of the question. i could try the head side of the stud but i don't think i can chisel that hoe apart.

No I tried a chiesel. Maybe try drilling through the center with some hardcore bits. Is the wheel loose at all? If so try yanking the wheel back and forth to brake the stud off. Or put a lug wench on the lug and hit that with a hammer maybe.

heat the head of the lug stud till its scorching red, then take some dry ice on it and chisel the sucker off w/ an air hammer/chisel

don't know if it'll work , its just an idea :D

try to reach behind the hub with a vice grip. If you cant then you need to have the back of the stud tac welded to the back of the hub. Harbor freight has cheap arc welders for ~$90 and flux core for ~$130. Might want to check those out before paying labor to have it done

Just take the hub off? One nut on the front for the front hubs, and 4 in the back for the rears depending on which one is messed up. Take the whole damn thing (wheel and hub) off and then clamp it with a vice grip from the back, loosen the bitch then replace the stud. Since you said that the caliper is off already, it should be less of a cock-blocker for you. That's what I would do.

Edit: I forgot that you would have to be able to access the axle nut in the back and the fat nut in the front fro the spindle. With the rim in the way, it seems unlikely.

i could tac weld it myself if there was a machine near by. i think willow has an interesting point.

i'm gonna try to take it off, take it to work, and tac weld that little faggot to the hub :)
