ok i was wondering about suspension, i plan on doing alot of 1/4 and possibly a little bit of drifting, would you suggest tien ha, or he suspension, or any other suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

HE. but keep your stock rear setup for when you go to the 1/4.

I have HE's all around..they are a bit stiff, but I like them a lot. Havent really had a chance to do any damper tuning with them.

I only said to run the stock stuff when he got to the drag strip... ;)

That would be a pain in the butt! But I understand the logic. I think either would be too stiff for drag racing.

I got HE's, they're ok. They have a piston that's on the small side compared to other inverted-piston coilovers. You can get Silkroads for the same price, I'd go with them...for the drifting anyway.

he...kinda pricey though

Well the whole thing about inverted struts is the piston is inside and you cant even see it. The shiney rod part is actually the the entire strut body, and thats why its so big. Its good for resisting damage, but there isnt an advantage in dampening from inverted struts.

Inverted pistons allow more load bearing and cooling, and have been shown to take more abuse. I think it's something about the valving being situated better with an inverted setup.

Compared to other coilovers like Sustecs and Silkroads, HAs and HEs are crap. The whole "drift spec" line is BS. Silkroad, Sustecs, and other high end coilovers have bigger pistons and better oil flow, which translates to a better working suspension.

I actually heard somewhere that Tein will take your HE/HAs and work them over, revalving them and adding stiffer springs. If I don't change mine, that might be where I'm heading.

There is always JIC FLT-A2's or Tanabe Sustec series coilovers to choose from....I would go with one of those....Great design and quality, perfect for weekend warrior, and daily driver....imo.. :naughtyd:

www.upspeed.com also carries silk road.

Do you KNOW the piston size of silkroads? Unless its been posted somewhere, you dont because you cant see it. And tanabe sustecs have some pretty cheap coilovers, and some higher end ones too. The high end sustecs dont seem to be too popular though.

Its funny that everyone knocks teins for not being inverted. Most racing struts arent inverted except for rally cars. Its never going to make a difference unless you crash, and what is cheaper to replace, a coilover or the whole strut tower?

When I said Sustecs I meant the DDs. They're not popular partly cause they're hard to get ahold of now. I think they have been discontinued or something.

It's just the construction of HE/HAs is not quite up to par with some of the other coilovers out there. Have you watched a Tien H series car drift? Bounce Bounce Bounce! Like I said, HEs are ok, they get me through the course. But I've heard only good things about the Silkroads and they're the same price.

If you are having trouble drifting with HE's the problem is the driver not the coilover. He's can be had about 150-200 dollars cheaper.

AAGH! NEVER-F***ING MIND! Your missing my point entirely! I'm not having trouble drifting at all, I make comps all the time. I was drifting bone stock open diff for months. Whatever, I give up.

hmmm... I've never gotten that bounce bounce bounce with my HEs.

btw, I've had mine for over two years, still work fine.

Do the Silk Roads include upper mounts?
