I recently started hearing this continual clicking sound after using my turn signal. Then few days ago I started smelling something burning and started seeing smoke coming out out of my steering column today. It seems to be related to the turn signal. The turn signals ok as well as all the lights. I sometimes hear this clicking right after I start the car. The noise started while using the right turn signal but now its the left one too. I can get it to stop if I go back to the other side from right to left of vice versa. I assume it might be some type of relay?

glad someone else is having the same exact problem! it wont stop clicking and its driving me crazy. under the steering column you will see a relay. its the turn signal relay, if you touch it while you hear the clicking noise you will feel it clicking (proof its that). then like you said i smelt burning and a puff of smoke came out. ordered a new relay, $25, cant remember the part number youd have to look it up, and didnt fix the problem. so now im stuck too!

I had to replace the stem on the left side of steering column. It contains the turn signal and light switches. It was about $125 for the part. Had electric shop put it in and it fixed the problem
