This is my 8th 240sx (2nd Convertible). Planning on fully restoring it unlike the others I owned. It will take a couple of years before I get it the way I want it, but good things come to those who wait, or so they say. Took me about 5 months to find a truly clean Vert and luckily it was a 1994 which is always a plus. Picked her up from a dealership for $3500.

First day I got her and started working on the pillar removal.

http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/7707/photonia.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo//841/photonia.jpg/)

Finished with both sides already, can't seem to find pictures. will post them as soon as I do. For some reason the panels don't sit flush, going to mess around with it a bit more see if I can make it work.

Installed Circuit Sports clear side markers and gave her a bath. My daily chilling in the back.

Picked some clean S15 sun visors because the stock one's were ugly and destroyed.

Going to mess with the car some more on Saturday. Planning on installing B14 Seat belts, Pioneer front & rear speakers, Maxima tinted mirrors, CS tail lights & turning signals. Will post some more pictures soon.

A few little updates.

Seen a few different wrote ups of how people mounted their seat belt conversions and didn't really like it. So me and my cousin did something a little different. It came out very clean, looks like it came out that way out of the factory. The two plastic trims cover both of the holes perfectly.

Didn't like the OEM Tails;

So I got some Circuit Sports ones from FRS;

The grills were a little faded so I painted them and changed the turning signals as well;

As we know the stock speakers suck, so I installed some Pioneer ones. Really cheap and great sound;

Also installed Nissan Maxima side view Mirrors (they are tinted blue);

Cleaned up the engine bay a bit with some Simple Green;

That's it for now, going to update some more thing in a few weeks.

Bought fresh stalks from the dealer, also a new retractable headlight switch. They look and feel so much better than the old switches.

Also bought Circuit Sports QR + Hub and a nice Nardi 330mm wheel.

My goal is to buy as much new interior parts as possible from Nissan while they still have them to make my car look fresh inside. So I copped a new ash tray and center console. Going to buy the finisher later.

http://i1317.photobucket.com/albums/t628/Kon_Ster/IMG_0759_zps24cf519b.jpg (http://s1317.photobucket.com/user/Kon_Ster/media/IMG_0759_zps24cf519b.jpg.html)

Copped floor mats of eBay. I heard they wear out pretty fast, but I will only be driving the car a few times a year when it's only nice out so I'm not too worried about it. I personally really like how they look.

http://i1317.photobucket.com/albums/t628/Kon_Ster/IMG_0762_zps74cc4069.jpg (http://s1317.photobucket.com/user/Kon_Ster/media/IMG_0762_zps74cc4069.jpg.html)

Took a trip to Jersey for some S14 seats for $60, pretty good deal. They not in the greatest shape, but a lot more comfy than the S13 seats. Might get then reupholstered or will probably get some cleaner SE seats if they happen to pop up.

http://i1317.photobucket.com/albums/t628/Kon_Ster/IMG_0763_zps3963a90f.jpg (http://s1317.photobucket.com/user/Kon_Ster/media/IMG_0763_zps3963a90f.jpg.html)

Took out the B14 seats belts because they didn't retract. Replaced them with the Vert rear belts. They feel a lot better and retract. Once I bring the car to the city I'm going to take it to a welder to make the belts a little more safer. Was going to fully finish the seat belt conversion, unfortunately I forgot the panels in NY and the car is in PA.

Bought Ichikoh fog lights, now all I need is the brackets. If someone has it or can tell me the dimensions so I can make one please let me know, I really want to install these. Also currently waiting for a new fog light switch and power window finishers from the dealer. Ordered a 1990 OEm Accord lip from eBay, looked good on a coupe I saw so I'm going to jock it lol.

Bought a new quarter window switch from the dealer, possibly the last one. Old one on the left.

After searching for about six months, I finally found a clean set of mudflaps. Love the way they look on the car.

I always wanted illuminated door sills so I made them myself. Didn't get a chance to wire them yet unfortunately.

Took about 20 minutes to cut the sill and put the aluminum plate on 3M tape.

2X LED strips.

Wanted to dye the carpet this weekend, but it was too cold so I probably won't have any updates for a while after this one. Again did some minor things that bugged me. Hit it with Dupli- Color Vinyl paint. Looks a lot better in person.

The only problem is the receiver rubs against the center console. Ended up notching the trim piece on the seat. Still rubs, just not as much.

Loos good so far. I recall there being a vendor on here who would redo the switches(ie the lettering on them) to make them look new, instead of trying to buy new ones from the dealer

Not yet, but I'm doing the same as you plus the cowl, wiper arms and all windshield and door trim. I have a can of glossifier, but I'm not sure if I will use it yet.

I tried so many products to clean those rear well trim parts - nothing worked. Looks real good!

Who ever told you that lied. 1992-1994 is when they made them. 1994's are rare because they only pumped out about 1400 of them.

Nice vert man, what are your plans for the wheels/suspension?

Konster
10-16-2013, 11:33 PM
Thanks dude. I'm definitely going to get STANCE coils and the rest of the arms etc was going to go with Circuit Sports. I know I will probably get flamed for this, but CS makes some quality shit that I have been running in my 240's for years without anything breaking or any sort of problems.

As for the wheels, I'm not sure yet. I'm thinking of getting the Work CR01 15'. I have had 18's on 240's as well before so I just want to try something different because I really liked some of the cars in the Dorisha thread.

I have everything for a five speed conversion, really looking forward to that.

Sick man! that is looking really clean...I like how you did your seat belt relocate, where did u get that upper part that rotates? hard to explain what part im taking about, the back seat belts on my 94 vert only came with that metal ring sorta thing, seems you got yourself an actual seat belt cover there.

Not to turn this into a pissing contest but he's right, he admittedly just worded it wrong.

From Wikipedia:

For the 1994 model year, the only available 240SX was a Special Edition convertible equipped with an automatic transmission. The US 240sx convertible differed from the Japanese market version, in that the Japanese market model had a power top cover boot, whereas the US market model had manually installed boot cover once the top is down.

Lol touché! But they were still produced in japan as hatches and coupes, although technically they were not a "240sx" lol. What's a real trip to me reading up on it is that not one vert was made by Nissan. In fact every vert started off as a coupe that was then shipped to Cali and turned into a convertible by a company called ASC. This is why the interior panels are always such shit, because technically they are aftermarket... Not oem quality.

Thanks dude. I know exactly what you're talking about, it actually doesn't rotate though, just looks good. not safe at all though. Those are B14 Sentra, they work with the Vert OEM clickers. They look good, but aren't safe at all and don't retract so I replaced them with the Vert rear belts.

Finished making the OEM Vert swivels work for the S15 sun visors. They look a hundred times better than the stock ones, only problem is they just go up and down, they don't go to the side.

I cut the Vert swivel so it's the same size is the S15 swivel;

http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/w677/pocketracer11/IMG_0618_zpsa9e36ef9.jpg (http://s1335.photobucket.com/user/pocketracer11/media/IMG_0618_zpsa9e36ef9.jpg.html)

Then you will need an 'ultra fine point' sharpie. Cut it in half and shave the inside with a dremel bit so it slides on to the Vert swivel, add some Gorilla glue for support and you're done.

http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/w677/pocketracer11/IMG_0619_zps29abbb77.jpg (http://s1335.photobucket.com/user/pocketracer11/media/IMG_0619_zps29abbb77.jpg.html)

This is how it looks when all is said and done. Can't seem to find a picture of them mounted, but I will post it as soon I do.

Bought some cleaner door panels. Painted the tweed with Dupli-Color Vinyl dye and it looks great. Even better then removing the tweed IMO. Painted the speaker grille's too.

Very nice man! Is it safe to have the seat belt mounting point below your shoulder like that...? I've heard a thing or two about that potentially leading to spinal compression in an accident (mainly with dual shoulder harnesses, but may be similar here).

No updates yet unfortunately. The wife and I had a kid two months ago so that has been keeping me busy. Most likely this month the car will be converted to a five speed. Initially I was planning on doing it with my cousins, but now I have no time with the kid an all so I will have a shop convert it for me.

Been getting some more parts from Nissan, shit is expensive!

Bought some LED's to install in the interior switches. Really like the way it came out, will eventually do the rest.

What do you mean NOS new?

The door locks are OEM 240sx. Just wanted brand new ones, maybe it will slightly slow down potential thieves. Or might not at all, I used to own a Nissan master key that was good for any Nissan from 88' to 98', that shit worked like a charm.

Big things are coming this week. Brought the car to NY to my friends shop. I will have him do the conversion since I have a very busy schedule.

Did a couple of little things again.

Old interior door handle on the left, ugly faded thing. Brand new one the right looks great.

Finally drove the car around, felt great driving a manual after driving an automatic for years.

Got a couple of things done today.

Always felt like the stock shifter was a little too long, so I took it too a welder had him cut 2-3 inches off it and weld it back. Can't really tell from the picture, but it looks and feel a lot better. Never understood how people use those dildo shifters.

After pulling the carpet I was clad to see that the floor was rust free so I ended up cleaning it a bit. I Should have done a better job because I didn't spend time on it. Will do better once I put in some Dynamat.

Put in the 180sx carpet, looks so much better and the material feels way better than any USDM 240sx carpet. Fitting it wasn't a problem either unlike those aftermarket carpets where you have to cut most of it yourself.

If anyone wants to do it I highly recommend it. All the holes line up. The only thing you need to cut is a hole for the trunk/fuel door lever which is extremely easy. Also like the Vert carpet it doesn't have the humps in the back like the coupe/hatch carpets do. You won't see the holes for the right hand side dead pedal and the thing behind the gas pedal after you put in the floor mats.

You will need to play with the rear a bit though for it to look good. I'm very happy with the way it came out.

If I have some free time tomorrow I will install my brand new cluster bezel because I ended up braking the one I had on the car, also the brand new radio bezel, new OEM Nissan shift boot and Nismo shift knob. I need to find some door sills to, I have a set laying around the house somewhere.

I will try to upload a video tomorrow.

Pic of rear as requested. It will look a lot better once I spray some water on it since it's really stiff. Believe me man, it's absolutely worth it. All you really have to do is cut holes for the dead pedal and the shit that goes behind the gas pedal which will take two mins and the gas/trunk lever obviously.

We were going to finish the rear as well, however I completely forgot that I don't have rear brake pads. AutoZone didn't have any in stock so we said fuck it.

My cousins M is dope. He recently spent around 2K for new tires and rims. They look good, but I felt like his previosu rims looked way better. He also bolted on some G37 Sport calipers. Those things make my ZX calipers look extra small.

My dude always got them gis on deck.

Got a few more things done. Was going to do a lot more, but it's fucking freezing in PA.

After two long years of searching I finally found these babies;

I really hate how my door panels look. As soon as I find a clean set, first thing I'm going to do is have the inserts re-wrapped in either black leather or black BRIDE fabric.

Got tired of all the wires hanging out;

Was hoping to avoid dropping the steering wheel column to put it on, but it's damn near impossible because of the lever;

Dude, props again!

With this much attention to OEM-esque interior, please skip the bride fabric doors.

I didn't even know those latch covers were a thing!

As always, stepping up the vert game.

Thanks man. Might not be BRIDE, maybe just some black leather, but I definitely need to get that done. Really looks ugly as of now. The chrome handles are actually of a Nissan Terrano II.

I love when this thread gets updated. What's in store for the interior after this? You've replaced a lot.

Ordering a new steering wheel column shell and speaker grilles if Courtesy got them.

Next order of business is to install the 350z pedal covers. Gonna have to cut the stock pedals a bit to fit them. Also going to paint the door sills, I got my hands on clean ones, but they are a bit faded and Nissan doesn't carry them anymore.

I need to get this wired as well. Most likely going to take it to a shop to do because I hate messing with wires.

Knocked out a few more things. I had one door sill and it wasn't in the greatest shape. Fortunately for me a member on here was parting out his coupe. So I ended up buying a set of sills of him for $17 shipped, they were in way better shape so I was happy.

Ended up ordering brand new clips for the sills. $50 shipped for 10 of them. As we know, after all these years most of them don't usually unscrew like they should. The new ones on the other hand are great.

After;

Part # if anyone is interested.

These brackets definitely came in handy. Would recommend them if you're planning to convert your rear brakes. I heard you have to cut them if you don't havr this bracket, not sure how true it is though.

It's not complete because I didn't bleed the brakes yet and I also need t mess with the ebrake line on the drivers side. For some reason the passenger side locks up fine, the driver side not so much. If anyone has any idea what that is I would love some insight.

I really need some rims ASAP. At the moment my car is sitting on the 20' you see above that are on the M35X. My cousin had no place to keep them and winter is coming so he put the stock rims on for now so they don't get ruined.

The next updates will most likely happene closer to summer. Too damn cold to work on a car when it's 30 degrees outside.

I have some CS parts, and I haven't been let down with their products.
Better then ISIS parts IMO.

check your hard adjustment at the drum and also check your plates that they didn't swing in giving the cable some slack.

your the only other person I know that painted all the trim by the wipers haha.

how did you do the LED conversion in your switches ? looks really neat and I would like to have that in my coupe.

also, what are your inside door handles called ? I want a set like yours haha

This took me about 10-15 minutes.

What you need;

350z Pedal Cover
Angle grinder
Pan w/ hot water
Gorilla glue (optional)

Removed my floor mat for this random one so I don't burn my 180sx OEM carpet. As you see I didn't even have a cover to begin with.

I trimmed both sides a bit, length is perfect. Makesure to grind the corners so they're not sharp

After boiling the pedal cover for 60 seconds it just slid in with a little muscle. I out some Gorilla Glue in the rear just in case. It doesn't budge one bit without the glue. Gonna do the brake pedal next.

Got extremely lucky and satisfied with the purchase below. The seller has been trying to sell this new pump for a while. He started at $600 then a few months later dropped it to $200 make an offer. I hit him with $120 and he accepted, with free shipping. I needed this since mine shit the bed and the pump being brand new is a huge plus.
