im replacing my rack with a hicas one and while its out i want to drop in a solid bushing/spacer.
while i have the machinery id like to make my own instead of buying one. does anyone have the measurements or have one uninstalled that they can measure for me?
thanks for the help

energy suspension bushings are 8 bucks at suspension.com seems more sensible but everyone has their thing.

We're talking about a direct steering bushing like this (http://www.jspec.com/gtodirsteer.html) right?
Some people have made them before, it's a pretty simple design. There's a thread about it on FA by moorefire. He went through a couple different designs, but it's basically a 3/4" disk, same diameter as the stock bushing and with holes in the same locations as the stock bushing.

Different part. Not the bushings that the rack sits on. The bushing that connects the 2 halves of the shaft.

hicas rack is quicker, like 2.7 turns compared to stock 3.4 turns. im pretty sure those numbers are right.

yeah. i need a new rack anyway and the direct steering bushing is the one im lookin at. where exactly is it so when i drop my rack i can measure it off that. i assumed id find out if i bought one (cause they might give me install instructions?). i hope the rack is quicker. its going in my stripped car

I don't know if your still reading this post but I got one I can measure for you and lsauto has instructions on their site. theyre not the best but you get an idea. its up by the fire wall I am going to attempt to put it in with the motor in. if I find any tricks I'll post it or a write up. email me at
[email protected] if you want me to get the sizes.

i'd like the dimensions if you can measure it, i'm on a quest to make my steering more responsive. it may only be $40 but i can make one myself for like $5.
