i have one of those and it leans the cups at a forward slant. I dont thing it would be very good for holding cups. If you have the half din one and make it sit more level it might work better,

Just got back from super autobacs, my friend picked up a Coilspring style cup holder that is held on with double sided tape. Its pretty cool. I was thinking, 2 of them can fit in teh center consol compartment, just put them in there, and they will be out of sight when teh lid is closed, then open it and put ur drinks in, it should work great.

Nocomedown is correct, the whole project cost me a whopping $3 for the foam the rest was stuff from prior projects. So yeah if you have to source all of that stuff its quite expensive for a cupholder, but if you have friends with the items in there garage it can be a relatively cheap and fun project.

BTW my wife has one of those cupholders in her celica and it blows donkey nuts, everytime you shift you smack the cup about. It doesnt fit very many sized drinks either due to its close proximity to the shifter and stereo.

its a "cup" holder. who drinks out of cups and cans these days. it wont fit your JAMBA JUICE or 32 ouncer. also, you gotta remember on our cars, there aint gonna be room to SHIFT if you have something sticking out of the DIN.

In the open area on ur center console in a s14. I put the cup thier followed by my walet and it does a ghetto ass job of holding till I get home after going thru a drive thru. Thats when I find the most need for a cup holder most of the time I have a bottle sealed stuff like gatorade and water...no soda I can't handle that shit anymore.

FYI guys, I'm currently working on making a cup holder for all you s13 people that will go into the slot for the ash tray. I'm not really sure why no one has done this yet, but I'm working on the prototype on my car now, if all goes well, I'll see about making more of them :)

I'll keep everyone informed on my progress.
Goal:
s13 cupholder to replace the ashtray that will be make to hold cans and McDonald's super size cups specifically. Material will be paintable fiberglass, potentially carbon fiber, but that will be much later.

check out ebay and search for marine surplus cup holder. i won the auction for like $4.25 and shipping was another $1 and change. Definitely worth it. Much better than the $122 for the other one.

I will seriously have to test my Sentra's cupholder when I have a 240SX in my possession. I had it out of the car when I was installing a new head unit, and it looks almost identical to that one in the Ebay auction. Has anyone ever tried retro-fitting a Sentra cupholder into a 240? It might work.

i have never had a car with cupholders, so i don't know the difference. i once tried the things that go in the window slot, but i didn't like it. the one thats 2 posts ^^ you can also get from a VW dealership in just about any color you want and they will hold 2 drinks.
