:ughug: Yesterday i am trying to adjust the ride hight of my Apexi n1 Pro's. After some damn hard work and with using a cheater bar I was able to spin the lower collar and move the treaded chock body with some good muscle. BUT, as usual when I reached the last coilover (front left), I was eventually able to move the lower collar and then when I got to trying to turn the threaded collar, it would not budge. I tried wd40, using a malet, cheater bar. I even threaded the collar up to the spring adjustment collars and tried to use that for leverage with one of the adjustment wrenches that came from apexi. I dunno, i need to raise my car, I don't know what else I need to do. For those of you with any good advice or info regarding coilovers that are adjusted separately from the spring please help. The Damn thing has fused to something!

ok, i dont know if its true of apex'i but the front left coilover for the zeal v6's which are inverted are reverse thread so that they dont loosen over time.

It is more of a problem of the the threaded shock body no spinning so that the height can be adjusted. While My front shocks are inverted, it should have no effect on what I am doing. In any case, I was able to adjust the right front, I am just having problems with the front left.

dirt gets stuck in the threads and then when you try to spin it the dirt gets caught in between and wont let them budge...this happened to me and it took some spinning of the base (the part that bolts to the car) in both directions as if i wanted to raise and lower the car and then also using a toothbrush and some cleaner to get all the dirt and grit out...just takes time and some elbow grease..

Nokeone, i think that is a good idea, but i need clarification, If I attempt to spin the base (the part that connects to the car) what will keep the shock body from spinning with it (since it is siezed or so i think). Thanks,

you should be able to hold it in place using one of the collars and tools they provided you for adjusting...there should be like 3 collars right?..(i know on my teins there is)..in different places...find the one that tightens the opposite direction you are trying to turn the base and hold it with that...

also, if that doesn't work...there should be a nut..it's 21mm on Teins..that is on the top..or in your case the bottom of the strut...using a socket on this should yield the same results of holding the center in place...

unbolt the coilover from the spindle/lower bracket
much easier to adjust.

from the SOUNDS of it your adjusting it while its bolted up to the car.
always clean the threads too before adjsuting, wd40, brake cleaner or carb cleaner does fine.

good luck

i thought you HAD to unbolt it to adjust it??...how else do you spin the lower part?..i would think it would be way harder still completely attached to the car...

i usually just spin it because if you unbolt the HEs up fornt, you goof your camber (unless you set it full max either way)

so i just do it on car..now car is at the height i want it (almost as low as can go up front and as low as can go rear---i want lower)

Ok when the weather get a little better out i will attemp again and snap some shots. I understand exactly what you all are saying... more after I try.. =)

me too!...my rears wont go any lower...they hit the bottom of the inside of the strut housing or whatever you call it...wont spin any lower!!

and the fronts...i get what you are saying now...but i just max out my eccentric bolts for negative camber so it doesn't seem to matter if i unbolt it...i've got maybe a 1/2 - 5/8 of an inch left to go lower in front...

How far off the ground is your car? My downpipe is about 1.5 inches of the ground maybe 2.5 inches. in any case, i dont have side skirts so the only that hits a speed bump is that pipe. All attemps to do the played left side to right side of the bump fail. lol.

i dunno..it's pretty close...never measured...my frame rails will scrape though...as well as exhaust and the rest of the undercarriage if i'm not careful...
