Well, finally got my rear coilovers in, as well as mounted the rear wheels/tires. Right now it's a bit low (at least in my mind). tomorrow I'm going to play around with the height in the rear, as well as install my Z32 brakes up front, and put the front wheels/tires on.
Here's the pics:

cool
what size and offset?
17x8 +35 rear. 245/45/17 tire.
17x7 +35 front. 225/45/17 tire.
before anyone comments on the tire sizing, those are the only 17" sizes that falken makes in the azenis sports :)
I think they look real good...tomorrow the fronts go on and i'll take some more pics.

Can't. I wanted FN01R-C's, and the sizes I got are the only ones available in 4-lug. If I went 5-lug, my wheel choices would have gone up by a lot, but unfortunately, that's about $500 more than I wanted to spend. Basically, the choice was Z brakes or 5-lug conversion...I opted for Z brakes :)
Also, to whoever said get some spacers, why? To me the wheels look pretty damn flush, I would think spacers would make them stick out too much.

damn dude.. these DN01RC's are getting so excessively popular that they are starting to remind me of the old buddy club P1's or whatever, that everyone used to run back in the day.
isnt it weird having a wheel that everyone and their mother has? dont get me wrong, its a nice wheel.. but man i need to have something unique. i'de hate seeing other 240's wearing the same shoes.

its Funny how everyone says hella people have Fn01R- C's because I went to a meet recently and no one had them except my friend, and it was it on a s2000. It may only seem like a lot of people have them, but i think its the board. Ive seen see only two cars with them in real life.

i think it's just the circles you run in...
for me i know of 3 or 4 other close friends who also have the wheels...but whatever...paint them different colors from eachother to add some individuality...they are cheap...that is the main thing..easy to get and come in good sizes...

why not 17x8 front?
msaskin
05-19-2004, 06:35 PM
didn't think i could fit 17x8 up front without rubbing or having to run lots of negative camber.
I don't drift...the car is for having fun on nice days and for hitting the road course with, so keeping realistic alignment #'s is good. I can't go around all the time with ridiculous negative camber in front/rear.

Fresh repaint...certainly not factory :)
It's "bright red metallic", maybe a GM color??. I'm sure I can dig up the actual color codes if anyone wants.

Any pics with the front ones on yet, msaskin?
Also, how is the fitment with 17x7 in front and 17x8 in the back? do the rear rims stick out more than the front ones or is it even noticible? I'm in the market for those exact rims and i'm not sure whether I should go with the 17x7 in front and 17x8 in back or 17x8 all around. Any thoughts at all?

who the hell cares? those tires and wheels are killer. how many vette or viper owners do you see griping about guys havin the same wheels as them? a good wheel and tire combo is a good wheel/tire combo.
p.s. it's good to see someone buying tires to GRIP rather than drift on :)

eeterp; i'll take some more pics tomorrow and try to remember to get the color codes
meccathor; i put the 17x8 up front with some 5mm spacers (wouldn't clear coilovers otherwise) just to see, and i'd either have to raise the car up, roll the fenders some, or run a bunch of negative camber to avoid rubbing. granted, i'm running really big tires (like, total diameter is close to 1" more than stock), so with smaller size tires (40 profile) it probably wouldn't be an issue. front/rear "flushness" doesn't appear to be different, but i'll take some detailed pictures tomorrow so you can see for yourself.
archangel; yeah, grip all the way. i hit the road course once every 3-4 weeks, so having a good tire was uber-important. the fronts are still plenty grippy for a bit of drifting action every now and then, and i just throw the stock steelies and crap tires on the back to burn up :)

Well, I got off my ass and took pictures today, so here they are. They're labeled as corner of the car (FR, FL, RR, RL) followed by a short description. I tried to get pictures of the side-on, "flushness" of the wheel, and clearance of brakes/coilovers. Also are some close-up shots of the hood and roof so you can see the metallicness of the paint for those that asked.
Before the comments begin:
1) I know my rear camber is way off. my adjustable RUCA's will be here shortly
2) Yes, the car and wheels are dirty :)
3) My front is sitting too high right now compared to the back, i'll be lowering it later this week when i have time to work on the car.
To recap:
Wheels - 5Zigen FN01R-Cs in bronze, 17x7 front, 17x8 rear, +35 all around
Tires - Falken Azenis Sports, 225/45/17 front, 245/45/17 rear
Suspension - D2 coilovers, 9kg/mm front, 7kg/mm rear
Brakes - 26mm Aluminum Z32 calipers, rotors and braided lines from heavy throttle (up front), stock in the rear
