Hey Zilvia,

We are fairly new to these forums and I just wanted to post a few pics of our demo car and tell you a little about our shop.

We are currently building a RB26DETT 1998 240SX w/ S15 conversion. The car is currently being featured in various issues of HCI Magazine. We write tech articles for them from time to time.

In a few months, the RB26 swap guide will be coming out and I hope you guys pick up the issue. HCI is really dedicated to the 240SX scene, and there are not many magazines that are doing near monthly articles on our cars...

We are shooting for the 750 HP mark before nitrous on our demo car.

Yeah seriously. Either paint the blue peices black, or paint the CF. Id prefer just have the whole thing painted black. :boink: That thing is going to be a monster when you guys take it out. 750RWHP, that would pretty much kill everything. LoL. Very nice work.

read this:
http://www.underground-motorsports.com/catalog-suspension.htm

at bottom
its a bracket to push the caliper out more and space it properly or something
braking torque

contact patch of pad remains same (obviously) but you have more leverage

Nice car. Just don't leave it half Carbon Fiber.

What's HCI??

umsports
05-19-2004, 01:18 AM
Hot Compact and Import Magazine, www.hcimagazine.com

Its huge on the East Coast, and its quickly making its way out west. They are a California based company.

--- To tie the carbon fiber and blue together, we are going to lay the graphics over the front fender where it meets the blue paint. By using the graphics, we will be able to create tear looking designs similar to the HKS Drift cars.

Should be really nice.

If I were to guess how much it would cost to replicate this car by the time we are done, I would guess over 60K, probably much more.

When we get it finished, I will post everything done and the costs...

We got new wheels for the car today. We had to sell the wheels that are on the website because they weren't wide enough. The new wheels are 18x9 in the front, and 18x10 in the rear. They are custom made for our car, they have about a 3" lip in the front and a 4-4.5" lip in the rear. We are having the wheels sent out this week to have them powdercoated, I'm still not sure what color we are going with.

But, I know we are going to leave the lips in their polished state.

BEFORE:

18x8 +30, 18x9 +35

AFTER:

These are fake pics, been photoshopped.

18x9 +12, 18x10 +30 needed to clear our widebody kit fixing to be installed.

I will post actual test fit photos later today if I have time...

Based on the previous photos, do you think we should leave them in their Hyper Silver/ chrome status? Or powdercoat and paint?

Leave the rims gunmetal.

umsports
05-19-2004, 08:26 PM
Yeah, we are going to powdercoat the wheels and paint them Hyper Black/Gunmetal. Same color as the SSR Professor SP1's.....

Thanks for your advice, I do agree...

umsports
05-19-2004, 09:04 PM
Yes, we are leaving it "Ghetto" as you referred to it.

And we are planning on running a spoiler, nothing too crazy. Like the 95-96 Veilside Wing. I want something that is curvy, but not too high.

people have opinions. if he think its ghetto looking becuz of it..then he think its ghetto

no need to feel insulted and coin in that ur car will be 750hp.

oh and i think Veilside wings are ugly.

so are u gonna go

"well i guess im gonna have to drive my "ghetto" 750hp 240sx with a ugly Veilside wing! life sucks!?"

you can have 10000hp..but in the end..ur car can still look ugly.

umsports
05-19-2004, 09:14 PM
And 95KoukiS14, Im just messing with you about your ghetto comment.

I personally like the contrast. Others dont....Thats why we all don't drive identical cars...

Since our car is a demo car, I want the customers to know we have carbon fiber parts. Why would I want to hide this fact by painting over them? I know some people do that, but I'd prefer the natural look.

That is one of the great selling points of carbon fiber, is the fact that you don't have to paint it unlike fiberglass....

"These views reflect those of Chris and Chris only" Lol!

SimpleS14
05-19-2004, 09:20 PM
Its all good....but the car could have been black with some metal flakes :-/

umsports
05-19-2004, 09:22 PM
Yeah Silvia Driver, I agree about most of the Veilside wings....

The only one I like is the 95-96 wing because it is similar to the Rod Millen wings made for the Supras.

The 97-98 wings sit higher and look crappy in my opinion....

You seem like you have been around for awhile, what do you recommend? I'm up for anything, I just need to do some more searching. I respect you opinions...

95KoukiS14,

I agree that the black would have been awesome. However, we are sponsored by House of Kolor and they paid for this paint job on the car. It is too late for me to change colors and I can't take the car 2000 miles back to their headquarters to have it repainted.

We know that several of you have made your concerns known about the abrupt contrast of the carbon fiber and blue paint. We are going to be running the graphics on the car anyways, so we will have our graphics guy find a way to blend the two together...

Once again, this is a demo car, so please don't flame the graphics...What I mean is sponsors names, our Logo, etc....

Here is the wing I am referring too. I don't know how to describe what I'm looking for other to say I want something that doesn't sit flat on the car like some of the Bomex wings...

I want it to have some design to it, but nothing that sits too high...

The other picture is the color of the SSR Professor SP1's in Gunmetal Black Chrome. I am going to start looking tomorrow to find out who sells this paint.

C-WEST MINI SPOILER

that is a nice spoiler....and you can show it off as an item you sell

or get the K's wing

umsports
05-19-2004, 09:47 PM
Yeah, the K's wing looks great. I just worry that it is too played out...I see them on the East Coast non stop, so Im sure its one of the more popular out west.

is this an awd conversion just curious we were interested in trying one in cali...

-steve :rawk:

umsports
05-19-2004, 10:23 PM
No, this is RWD. OverRev.net just finished their AWD RB26 240SX, and I must say it sounds awesome, until you take a look at the hack job it required to fit.

I mean, they did awesome with what they had to work with, but they had to mutilate the chassis.

Simply not worth it. The Silvia was not designed for AWD, and I think it probably shouldn't be converted. Not worth the cost....

umsports
05-21-2004, 12:47 AM
We ordered the wing today from http://www.silviaparts.com/s14/14002/ in carbon fiber to match everything else!

We should get it in next week. As soon as it arrives, we will go ahead and install the spoiler and our Cwings carbon fiber JGT, http://www.importfan.com/product.asp?0=0&1=0&3=4294

By the way, the new Cwings carbon mirrors we got have the adapter plates that bolt-on to the stock location.

I think we are going to be painting the carbon fiber with a blue tint. We want the carbon fiber grains to be easily seen.

Take care!

They just finished McKinney Motorsports' demo car with crazy flames everywhere.

I have some pics, their car has been under raps as they are unveiling it at the June 12 Formula D show. You guys will be the first to see it.....

Cwings is making a carbon fiber trunk for us as well.

But the doors, no way. We are going for weight reduction reasons, not because it looks cool. We can save about 15 pounds going with the carbon fiber trunk, so thats definately going to happen.

But, as far as covering the doors, a-pillars and top, not gonna happen. Just added weight we don't need.

Good question!

Chris

But, as far as covering the doors
covering? i meant full CF replacement doors. several japanese companies make them (with a CF interior piece too), nobody in the US yet though AFAIK.

umsports
05-22-2004, 10:23 AM
I don't think I could afford them. We are sponsored by Cwings, so all the carbon on our car is free! The only thing I have paid for is my carbon fiber spoiler!

I saw a post on the Skyline forums awhile back about GTR carbon fiber doors, they wanted like $1500/per door.

There is no way I could swing that right now. I still have so many expenses with that car. But good idea, maybe in the future if I win the lottery. lol
