had the car for a year and a half with the swap. chassis has almost 250k miles. personally I put 35k on the engine. this problem had just recently started. not sure if it's the starter but when I turn the key all the lights are still on, it tried to crank but gives a little puff sometimes.

Perhaps you have a bad starter. Remove it and have it tested.

tested it today. its still good. i also used my spare rebuilt alternator and the problem still happens. it takes awhile for it to crank over if i hold the key until i get something though. but after i get it to start once, it drives good for the rest of the day.

Well today the problem occurred again and I noticed if I turned the key quick enough it starts cranking. Possibly bad ignition switch or something?

do you have an alarm? or any kill switch?

Is the starter trying to crank? If you hear only one click and the starter does not try to engage, it is probably the relay that I had to replace this weekend on mine.

ignition switch is extremely easy. it will take longer to actually get to the switch than to replace it. check your wiring while you are down there. My harness was hacked into by previous owners.

While trying to turn on the car shake the key hard and see if it turns over. Also the starter relay bypass the plugs and splice the wires together it worked for me and I have a bad switch I have to shake it hard every time to start it
