anybody in the vehicle design field

hey, I was just wondering if anybody here is going to college for vehicle design or is in the field already, Im completing my first year and was just wondering what your thoughts are on it. (What made me think of asking was I just saw my teacher (who is also in the field) walk out to his crappy beater car and was wondering if this is the right path for me. of course a persons car doesnt necessarily reflect how wealthy they are.)

my friend goes to ART CENTER in pasadena area for transportation design. probably the best school in the usa, if not the world (im guessing on the wold part) but its very very famous for art design (in various fields)

seems like a great field if you have the talent to get hired
but that goes for any field in those type of art things. whether it be movies, music or design.
if you have the talent, you'll have higher chances of success.

its really not art, its more along the lines of designing parts and all that crap on the computer. im sure its like most jobs where u are just a nobody but work your way up to project manager and all that crap. just wondering if its the best thing for me. was going to be a pilot but after 911 that dream faded.

mjstang, I think you've got an awesome career to look foreward to! I seriously considered transportation design...but went with industrial design instead. I'm really not sure what the pay is like for a designer such as yourself, but keep in mind...there will most likely be a ceiling as far as pay goes as you will be and employee rather than a business owner. Oh, about your professor and his beater of a car...that's what he is, a professor. Teachers don't make much.

I know the teachers dont make much but at my school, most of the teachers do have careers outside, one of mine is a hotshot at delphi but i dont know bout this guy, he seems like he knows his shit pretty good inside and out though,
