Hi guys I'm brand new to the forums and 240's (but not working on/modding cars). I've been trying to soak up as much info as possible and ran across this car. I took a ride in it (haven't driven it yet) and it seems to be pretty solid but figured I'd see what y'all thought:

1995 240sx sr20det (http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/4049202132.html)

Thanks in advanced for any inputs you can give!

Brad

whalecum to the forums, and 240 game. Just be ready to spend some money haha.
but yea, seems like a solid looking car for a reasonable price. Just make sure you ask as many questions about the car that you can think of, like what he all runs in it, how often and when he did maintenance on it, ie oil change, gear oil, coolant, etc. Good luck with the buy man!

My only gripe is a S13 SR in a S14, other than that it seems like an okay deal.

He seems to know the cars really well and has built a bunch of them. He had 4 240's at his house... He claims it ran 10.8 in the 1/4 with a 35 shot of nos on race gas running 27 psi. He also said that was a different motor. stock internals on the redtop with the different turbo listed. He only runs 12 psi on pump gas. I Think he said you could run 17 psi if you wanted to on pump gas. Also mentioned it had the q45 axles and skyline 4.36 lsd rear end.

I made the trip down there a long time ago to look at that car,think he was asking 7k or 7500 at the time. Car is really clean for the most part,low miles,reason for not buying was that he had the nitrous hooked up to it but had never hit it supposedly,car had a dead battery from sitting, and did smoke some on the start up,other than that the motor sounded solid. Car Was just a little more than I was wanting at the time,had a twin disc in it and was impossible to use as somewhat of a daily. But yes the guys name is chad and his dad knows a lot on 240's. Had a room full of motors and several builds done by Mazworx. Hope this helps u out. Also no a/c at the time. Only one dent on the car at the time,from slinging a helmet at the roof and put a dent above the passenger side door area

Yup that's the one. He didn't let me drive it so I couldn't tell about the clutch. He claimed the same with the nitrous on not using it with this particular motor. I didn't notice any smoke but it's possible he started it before I got there. The hood has also been bent up from nitrous pooling and then blowing up into the hood. Other than that it looked pretty clean.

He claimed hooking up A/C was more of a pain then it was worth and caused overheating (with electric fans). Is it really that big of a pain?
there's an S13 for sale in Montgomery that has a/c but is just a stock redtop swap.

google buying a used car checklist and gather some questions.
main things with 240s are;
where is the rust?
what does it need?

and yes 99% of them have rust and need something.

I have the same set up as him in my car basically,and I have no overheating issues running electric fans. Codyace has the bracket needed to make the ka a/c fit on the sr if u decided to do it on your own.

Looks pretty solid, but I'd recommend buying a stock 240 to learn how to work on.
