on alot of RWD and AWD cars (and on alot of ricer cars), i see the exhaust tip on them installed at an angle, and sometimes at an angle and bent upwards, whats the purpose of that? is it just for looks or is there a performance meaning behind that? just curious... :smash:

looks only.

pipe has fewer bends if it's like that.
goes straight from under the axle to the tip, instead of bending up and then bending back so it's level.

The tips that turn up are DTM style. That is completley asthetic, and it mimicks the German touring cars. Ehxausts that exit at an angle however do have reasons most the time. On many cars the exhaust path stays more straight if it exists at an angle. This is very true for cars like the MR2 that naturally have a transversly mounted exhaust.

My muffler doesn't come out at an angle and my piping is sickingly straight....
