Alright, I was looking through the classifieds and I found a 1991 240SX (coupe) for sale for $1,800. It says it's in excellent condition. I called the guy up and he said he also has a 1990 fastback for sale with 105k on it. The price is good, however, here are the problems.

Con: The car is red, I don't like red. I won't be getting a new paint job for a while until I sell my Integra. I'm planning on building a Sil-Eighty, minus the SR20DET for a while (still waiting on further developments with turbos, SMOG, and such) and getting a new paint job if possible ($2000 paint). It has no power options, I was looking for power options and a sunroof if possible. Plus the fastback has no DOHC KA24DE like the 91-94's do.

Pros: It's cheap. My parents wouldn't object to me getting the car since it's so cheap if it's in good condition.

However, if I wanted a better 240SX, it would cost twice as much. Therefore, my parents won't let me get it until I get a job and I'll have to pull a loan. So that means I'll have to pay monthly. I'm sorta having an ass of a time trying to find a job here in the Bay Area (Nor. Cali). Then again, I can find one with similar miles, a better color that I can stand, and a DOHC instead of an SOHC. Should I wait for a better deal or should I go for it if it's cool?

Hmm... if you get a coupe, you can't really build a sil-eighty. You can only build a sil-eighty if you've got the hatchback.

That's an awesome deal for the '91. What is the mileage on the car?

Did you test drive it yet?

i would go for it if it's in good condition, u could always make an offer 2. i'd say $1300 n c what they said <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> my car was supposed to be for 9k but got it for 7500.

I haven't test drove it yet. I really wanted a fastback for the Sil-Eighty. If it was a coupe, then it'd just be a..uh...Silvia. o_o The fastback had 105k on it and that was the one I wanted. The ad stated a coupe, but when I called, the guy said he also had a fastback, but it was a 90 instead of a 91 like the coupe. Eh...that 20 HP between 90's SOHC vs. 91's DOHC does make a difference to me. =/

Anyway, thanks for the replies, I already declined on it. I figured if I decided to add goodies on there like power locks and power windows, then get the car repainted to a color I'd want, then it'd be a pain in the ass and I might as well get a 91-93 fastback with everything I want for around $3,000 with a color that I actually like. Besides, less work the better since I don't have a job to pay for a new paint job and stuff. That's why I'm getting rid of my 'teg. Too many problems and there's just a major lack in all the things I'd want. @[email protected]

There's still a lotta low wage jobs out there. Look in malls and other shopping centers. The money's not great but it's better than no income. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
