Hey Guys,
So, I just bought this 95 240sx. It was really rough and looks like crap when I got it. But, for the price...I couldn't pass it up.

So a little background on what the problem is. The guy before me decided to put in a push button starter...(Dumb I know). I being the sensible guy I am, want to undo this...stupidity. Problem is....I've hit a snag. Please help me to figure out what the issue is.
First up is the Button itself. It had two wire attached to it. A pos and neg. Touch'em together...starts cranking the motor.

Then I traced the wires and it led to the battery and to the fuse box.

Then I found the starter plug and there was a plug going from the box to the plug...but it looked like someone had added that plug later...so there is no picture of it right now. I can get one later. But, this is what was left.....

And this one....I have no idea where it goes or what it is....but, it was connected to the other plug (added one on) and to the "starter plug". Now...i plugged in this black one into the "starter one" and...got nothing...no crank nada. Sooo...any thoughts? Opinions?

Download a FSM and search through the electrical section.

If the guy had it on a push start, it's most likely because the ignition switch is fucked up.

No, he told me because it was cool and also because something along the lines of 1 out of every 6 240 owner has the same key. "I wasn't about to have my car stolen"......

That last picture should be a ground for the starter

Anyone have any insight into this? This isn't the first time I've heard about this and I can't find anything on it.

I've heard about that for over 10 years. Since then I've been trying every 240 key I have on various other 240s just for shits and giggles. I have yet to run into a direct match. To the OP, I wouldn't be too concerned with that hype.

But I have seen two different R32s with the exact same key once. That was a fun day when we found that out.

^^LOL I have 4-5 different keys from 4-5 different S-chassis cars that all start mine. I think it has to do with the ignition switch being completely worn out to where damned near any key will work.

That actually might be what the guy was talking about or thought it was. Either way....this push button start sucks. I printed out the entire 1995 240sx FSM....1177 pages later....I have it. So, now just to dig into it and see what exactly to do. BTW...does anyone know where I can find new factory plugs incase...the ones in my car are ruined without having to get a whole new harness?

You can try your local Nissan dealership, but they are more than expensive.

Universal clips work just fine and cost 10x less. The only down side is you'll be dealing with wires for much longer.

P.S. I'm talking about male and female plugs connecting harnesses. For specific sensors, you'll need the specific plug. Luckily for you, Nissan re-uses alot of there technology, so to find the plug, all you have to do is head to the Nissan section of a junk yard with a set of snips.

bury your head in the fsm, get paper and a pencil. draw what you have and then draw what youre supposed to have. then fix it.
