Delete vvt on a s15 sr20det

my VVt sprocket is noisy as hell, has been for the last 3 years, i want to buy a new one, but for the moment i just want to get rid of the noise as i feel im going to be going down a different engine route at some stage so no point in spending E400 on a camgear,

iv herd of people doing this before but want to make sure before i go ahead,

can i just take the head off and replace the camgear sprocket with a non vvt camgear, bolt everything back up and be alright?

or so i need a specific camgear?

i know ill lose some mid range and all that but i just want a car that dosn't sound like a Diesel while i figure out if im going to swap the engine out or not.

If it's just at idle and light loads you can rig up a switch so it only comes on after a certain throttle travel, would cost about 5 dollars max to do :)

its always on idle when warm and upto around ~2000rmp it rattles, i never herd of wireing up something to get rid of it... any write up of doing that insted?

There are rebuild kits that will fix the problem.

Cheers man that looks like it might do the job :) can anyone tell me where these rebuild kits are? or how much they are? I cannot find them want to weigh up all options if a rebuild is cheap may aswell get one :)

well just hard wired the solonoid it up took 5 min, and no more noise why didnt i do this 3 years ago LOL cheers man :D
