i'm over here trying to get my horn to work so i can go and get my s14 inspected. i ground out the red wire from the clock spring to the steering shaft and hear the relay energize; but i get nothing. hooked a test light up to the horn wire in the front of the car, grounded it to the -neg terminal; it comes on when i ground out the wire @ the steering wheel. i then took the horn out to ground it straight to the -neg terminal, and ran a power wire from the spade to the +pos terminal and didn't go deaf.

never heard of a horn just..going bad. dafuq? am i missing something here?

i havent heard of it on 'newer' cars, but have read about it happening on a few datsuns.
if you wanted you could go get a horn from the parts store. if you dont want to go that route well at the very least you can install it just to see if it works, and use it to pass inspection, and then return it.
