Closer look.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid116/p2d60c683fc983abb8d2d1989b40c20af/f8afdbdb.jpg
Pretty good turbo/brake master cyl clearance.
setup
370cc injectors - installed (prolly gonna need to find one more 370cc, I used KA plastic cap on one of the injectors)
Walbro fuel pump - installed
Cobra MAF
JWT ECU
ETD manifold
T3 super 60, .63 turbine A/R
Tial 38mm WG (4psi spring for now)
Turbo XS BOV
JGS oil lines & fittings
custom 2.5 inch IC pipings
custom 3 inch downpipe
Greddy boost gauge
Wideband O2 (soon from streetrays)
SAFC 2 (soon from ebay)
Tommorrow we're going to try and work on the pipings + downpipe. Hopefully we can get the car running by the end of this week.
I am also going to use the ETD manifold as is... I am going to test and see how long this manifold will hold. (my guess will be a couple of months if im lucky).
I am not going to reweld the weldings and gaps... prolly gonna do some grindings to smooth things out a bit but thats it.
I am not really satisfied with the quality but I like the design. I am going to be looking for another manifold (not ETD) to replace this ETD one after the car runs.
stay tuned :)

man.. the forum is all messed up tonight.. (at least from my computer)..
but yea so far i've spent ~1500 and this will go up again once I purchase a wideband and safc2 and some other cool stuff...
plus I still have to finish up my suspensions. I need rear arms..
Tommorrow will be interesting though... cuz welding and making custom stuff is a lot of fun... especially if you CANT

WOW MAN!
looking great!
Don't guess you'll be at Grind101 on the 30th by any chance :)
that turbo looks big man, guess it might just be the way it's mounted... come down to Austin and run LCR w/ me.

yea thanks for the comments guys... We're trying to get this done by sunday...
Today wasnt really a productive day for us.. It rained all day long...
so we only did a couple of things:
Installed project silvia 3 inch downpipe and JGY's 3 inch test pipe
Removing the oil pan to get it tapped
Installed JWT ECU
Installed JGS oil feed line
Ate some ice cream
Tommorrow, we will measure, cut, and mark the IC pipings and the downpipe
Saturday we're going to a friend's place to get them welded, weld a bung to the oil pan, make a custom inlet bell.
and hopefully sunday we will be able to hook everything up and get the car running.
gmckey - LCR sounds like fun man :), but yea I'll be at the grind 101 although im not going to run that much since I going to be a staff.

well done man. that thing looks like its gonna haul!...keep us updated

I think i might get IAP manifold or maybe phat-kat's, cuz i dont think this ETD manifold will hold. the weldings is pretty from the outside but when you look at the collectors inside, its a whole different story..
I will take more pictures either today or tommorrow and keep y'all updated... especially if we run into some problems :)

you've only spent 1500 and you have all that stuff?
Bbandit
05-14-2004, 12:11 PM
groupbuys :)
and thats also the reason why it took me so long to gather all of these parts (almost a year).
Originally I planned to go with 14b.. but then I found T3 super 60 and I cant pass that deal.
the most i've spent so far is for the JWT ecu, that thing is expensive... I've I were to start again.. i'd ditch the JWT. SAFC + wideband o2 are adequate enough IMO
A lot of the small stuff I got (couplings and all that), I got some from friends.. those little stuff can add up to 250-300 bux easy if you cant find any thats free.
But im pretty sure the total will be over 2000 after this is done cuz i still have to buy some pipes+hoses+3 inch cat-back exhaus.. etc etc..
I'll try to make a table of the stuff i got and their prices once everything is done...
Im pretty sure i will be surprised.. cuz my original budget for this is only 1000.. and im well over my planned budget now...

we started the day off with taking the I/C pipings off from my buddy's (240_keyy) S13 SR.
He has a blitz I/C kit.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid116/p39cf52f1f4d04a78d17be560c52ddcd7/f8aae34a.jpg
After a bit of measuring and test fitting, we decided to make the blitz pipings for mock up.
The blitz coldpipe
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid116/pce3ba6d7d9d9f4723a8d1119c0d763ea/f8aae353.jpg
this is the upper coldpipe. the lower coldpipe also fits (but I forgot to take some pictures of it.
As for the hotpipe, the lower blitz hotpipe seems to fit also ,prolly with slight modification since we fabbed our own upper hotpipe.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid116/p531494b877cd1c092b563b3e49861fe1/f8aae358.jpg
Dont ask about the bent hook, happenned 2 years ago... long story.... rain+hydroplane=curb
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid116/p350801ed9eee656b2dd320ec05915257/f8aae34b.jpg
the intake pipe design looks kinda funky because thats the only compressor inlet bell that I have (its bent in a strange angle).
However, with that design, we think it will clear the hood. its just that Im not really a fan of those bends...
So tommorrow, We're going to make a new custom inlet bell so we can make the intake flow better.
We will also make the I/C pipings (Lower hotpipe, Upper and Lower coldpipe) using my buddy's blitz kit as a mock up.
Also lets not forget the downpipe.
We spent hours trying to fit and measure the downpipe. The downpipe is connected with ducttape right now but we're going to weld it too tommorrow.
We'll see how it goes.

If the pictures didnt show up, click refresh.
if still not working, right click on the 'red X' and click 'show picture'.
Imagestation sucks.. I need to find another host. but hopefully my website will be running mid-summer and Im going to document all of this stuff there.
So today we went to Cuero, TX... about 2.5 hours from Southwest of college station. Cuero is my buddy's hometown and he has a friend that has a welding machine and he can weld.
so basically these are what we have right now.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid116/p9ee3c7c3058bcaea6ab78ed8f1c8e7f2/f8a8773b.jpg
the heart of fury... the infamous beater EF that drove us down to Cuero :)

Raw materials. 4 U-bends, 1 Straight
The aluminum piping in the picture is my buddy's blitz piping kit. we used these as a mock up.

The downpipe (80% done)
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid116/p098d7d1bc6049c94bbffaf367bc6cb2c/f8a87725.jpg
Jeff (left) making some flanges, and Brian (right) welding my downpipe together.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid116/p5fb765031d3437d67bf948036e690ee6/f8a87733.jpg
The finished products. Notice that the pipings in the front are my custom pipings and the 3 piping behind them is the blitz I/C piping kit.
So my I/C pipings are done: Upper coldpipie, Lower coldpipie, lower hotpipe, upper hotpipe, wastegate flange+dump pipe, custom compressor inlet bell.
the downpipe is 85% done, we still need to fit the bottom 3 bolt flange on to it. The oilpan was also tapped and a bung was welded on to it.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid116/pfcd612bb06e97298f2dcc24c06d49308/f8a8772c.jpg
oh and Jeff gave me this... this will be perfect for my custom oil cooler :)

Projex240 : the downtime for my jwt ecu reprogram is a little over 1.5 months. I sent my other ECU i got from my friend so theres not really any downtime for me. I got it reprogrammed through JGYcustoms.com. I highly recommend them. great people!
as for the pipings, we used U bends.
for the I/C pipings alone, we used one U bends and cut it in two pieces, weld them in such angle and thats it. pretty simple...
I did all of the cutting and my friend brian did all of the welding.
So we only used a total of three (3) U-bends to make this I/C piping.

First of all I'm sorry if I keep updating this thread.. I just dont want to make new threads for the same stuff...
Yep... Day 5.. we've been slacking off and the KA-T hadnt seen the road yet...
BUT.. we got it started tonight and observed it. It seems like everything is running good except that its running rich. We also notice that the cobra maf is so sensitive.. slight wind messed up the idle.
We covered the mafs with my flat K&N and it idles great.
We revved it up and man.. the whinning turbo sound was just beautiful... we're still running open downpipe...
Here's some pictures..

Ghetto rigged radiator hose... Im not really a fan of it but the I/C pipings made us do it...
I'm going to do something about it for sure.

the oil feed fittings is leaking... thats because we havent put some teflon tape in the thread yet.. gonna do that tommorrow..
Checked everything else and no leaks so far..
We'll know more tommorrow when we drive it.. whether it has some boost leak or not.
well thats it for tonight.
Hopefully tommorrow we're can get to drive it.

Hey, do you have anymore pics or info on those rims? How wide are the rears and what size tire can you fit on them? I need a rim that will fit a 26 x 10" slick..

How many miles on the KA?
Bbandit

no SAFC yet, but I surely need one so Im gonna get one by the end of this week when I get paid.
The rear wheels are 8 inch wide. Im using 50/225/ R16 size tires.
The KA in my coupe came from a 95 S14, ~100k miles. I'm going to rebuild my 91 KA (currently 172,000 miles) for future usage. :)
