Well here are some pic's, just got my d2's on, 7/5 springs. I can get the front end up pretty easy, just use a scizzor jack on the front tow hook and use a reg jack on the rail, but what about the rear, It's hard as hell getting that thing jacked up. Do you guys have super low jacks or any tricks on how to jack up a really low car?

I've always driven the car up on ramps first, then put the jack underneath. If you don't have ramps, you can easily fashion something with 2x4's. The trick is a gradual incline so as not to scrpe your lip. Some store-bought ramps even come with additional, smaller ramps to assist with lowered cars. Anyone else got some ides??

2x10's work even better. and like a 2x4 it gives you an extra 1.5 inches of clearance.
if you jack your car up at the pinch welds, you can fit a regular jack without driving up onto anything. My car is lowered on Tein flexes and my huge craftsman jack fits with 1+ inches of clearance.

I made some multilevel ramps using long 2x10 planks. But my car is so low that even on the second level I still can't get the jack under the front crossmember, so I use a scissor jack on one side to raise it up a bit more.
But if I need to raise the back at the same time (i.e. to remove tranny, exhaust, etc), there is no way to drive the car backwards onto another ramp while the front is lifted up. So I use a scissor jack on one side to raise it high enough to get the jack under the diff. Just make sure you put the scissor jack there again when you lower it or you will dent up your fuel tank!
I want to get a super-low "racing" jack, but I'm not sure if it will help. I've noticed that most of them are still pretty high at their highest point, and that's the part of the jack that I can't get to clear w/o raising the car more with ramps and scissor jacks.

anyone have those takata ramps?
Heartwork
05-12-2004, 07:25 PM
i have those Takata ramps and only use them to roll backwards up on!!The ramps wont fit underneath my front lip or sideskirts, that is why i have to roll up on them in reverse...
then i have to jack it from the rear diff, THEN i have to use another floorjack to jack fmro the front lift points, i still cant even fit a jack under my front crossmember......

Yeah, you've gotta use super Dousan technique. Just a few snips and take off your front bumper. :)

how fuckin low are you heartwork?
anyway what i do is use the scissor jack up beneath the radiator support, and when its enough to put the jack under there i just stick down there, and viola, and ive used the radiator support multiple times, it will be fine

the complete solution is to not jack at the crossmember or diff, but at the reccomended jacking points at the sides of the car. You can fit any jack under there, and jacking at the right point, you can raise one whole side of the car at a time. It is a lot faster and easier. Look at the pinch welds and you will see a big block of hard steel at each corner of the car (front is underneath the door hinges, rear is next to the front rear subframe mounts) Put your jack directly on that and go to town. Chances are the sheet metal is all bent up there from people not hitting the right spot, but believe me, when the jack is positioned properly, its plenty strong enough to lift the car up.

OMG I hope you or anyone else didn't buy those. Go get some wood and make ramps.
To the poster, your car isn't that low, is your jack that big? My lip is as low as yours when I had my 14s on (this is on stock suspension). You really can't get your jack under your diff? I find that hard to believe since my friend has problems getting his jack under the front but can get it under the rear
. If all else fails get some wood, don't even have to do anything in your situation incline wise, just roll on top of it.

Yeah I just have a cheapo jack that sits pretty damn high, I just took the wheels off the jack and now it fits no problem.

HAHAH That is not low, its lower, but not to low to get a jack under their, once you get it REALLY low, use a Scissor Jack on the toe hook, then use the normal one to get under their. My car is hella low on those D2s, Im running 15s with 50 serise semi streached tires, and Im still kinda rubbing, I rolled the fenders so no more rub rub, but I want to slam it more :-D. Just need to get those flairs on :-D

my car isnt super low and i have a hard time jacking it up. i used to be able to get up under the crossmember, but now that my sway bar is about 1.75" off the ground thats not happening.
you can always get ur car up in the air, you just have to be creative sometimes, use ur head fellas.\\
btw i recommend heartwork's method of rolling back onto the low ramps, i do all the time. works great.

hahaah.
my car is low. i'll tell you what.
i need to take off my front bumper, then drive onto wooden blocks. then i can get a jack under there.
i just have a pair of those wussy jacks that you can buy at any local autoparts store.
what i really want is a big jack that i can use to jack the car up on the stock poijnts without driving it up on blocks. the local shop that i frequent has one that i love to use. it's SO easy.

i take a crowbar and use it to lift it a tiny bit, then i squeeze my fingers in underneath and lift the car up and then i slide my jackstands underneath and put the car ontop...
lol naa i do the dousan trick and cut off the zipties and then jack my car up...its pretty simple
