So, I bought a car out here and its registered in Michigan and I found out I still have to have it smogged to be registered on base (im in the military) Im curious as to whether or not ill have to pass by California standards or if it just blows clean? I had no idea id have to have it smogged even with it being registered out of state. The car is a 92 240sx with a turbo ka, I know there are a lot of sr swapped 240s out here and im wondering what you all do about smog? If someone could help me out with info on this id greatly apprechiate it.

Marines? That is shitty because I left my RB S13 registered in Maine and still got base stickers with no smog. Then again that is the Navy and they have their own stupidity. You might want to go get the details from whoever is requiring you to smog on the level of the smog you need.

Because If you roll into a smog shop with a out of state car they are going to try and smog it to the standards of the zipcode you are in like you were trying to transfer registration here.

EDIT: Is your DL from Michigan? If its from here they might be trying to get you to register the car here.

No I am Navy, im in Camp Pendleton and to register the car on base they want it to be smogged. I am liscensed in Michiagan. If I have to I will take off all the turbo mods and make it a stock engine again, but that is the last thing I want to do right now.

You are still dealing with a Marine base which is a pain from what I hear. I would take it in too a shop and talk to them about it.
