Steering rack only hits bump stop one way

I've been thinking about this for a bit now and I don't have a good reason why this is happening.

S13, stock inner/outter tie rod.

Bolt on rod spacer on passenger side. Slip on spacer for driver side.

Shortened pass side inner rod.

Rack centered, wheel removed and installed in new centered position. Turns 1.6 turns each way.. Zero toe when centered.

Now turning left I get the tie rod to hit the bump stop. Turning to the right it does not even touch, and there is noticeable less angle. The wheels rotates the exact same amount either way. And in the center I have zero toe.

Wtf am I doing wrong?

I have the same issue after my knuckle install. I have a feeling it has to do with the caster setting. If the tension rod lengths are uneven, the lcas are in different positions and affect where the tie rod end will contact the bump stop.

Is the inner tie rod bottoming out on the rack? What is stopping it from hitting the bump stop? Slide the boot off and take a look.

What knuckles and are the stock bump stops still there? Pics would help.

Yes the inner bottoms out on the rack, tho its not the inner itself but the bolt on spacer.

Now in the other direction the rack doesn't seem to bottom out (barely I mean barely) the bump stops are stopping from moving more.

On that side (drivers side of rack) I have the slip on spacer. I'm wondering if both spacers went on the passenger side would I get more useable travel from the rack?

I am correct with my original install, right!?

Knuckles are stock. Just going for a tad more angle now until I chop up the knuckles and flca's

For the most part, you seem to have your rack spacers installed correctly. I would guess to say the reason it's not resting against the bump stop is because of damaged or bent LCA, caster alignment, or king-pin angle.

Have you tried driving the car as is? Or is this observation only from the car jacked up and in the air?

i have not driven, just double checking things on he jackstand

tension arm length will be something i check out once i get a chance.

i doubt i have bent lca considering the shape of this vehicle is great. ideas to double check.

king pin angle i am not familiar with...ill look it up soon.

Put the car on the ground and do a figure-8 first. Check the bump stop spacing when you reach full lock on either side

Did this, it seems even on both sides, slight gap between bump stop on outter tie rod....hmmmm needs more angle haha
