So this chick in an accord in front of me slams on the brakes and I bump into her, zero damage to her, damage to my bumper and front framework.
Since then, I've had difficulty taking the key out of the ignition whnever i turn off the car. I've never had any problem with it before, it ONLY started up after this accident. I have had to wiggle the steering wheel, jiggle the key, turn the car on and shift back to drive and back to park a few times before it comes out.
Is there anything that may be damaged in a minor front collision that can affect the ignition?

yeah, thats why i'm hella confused...the only things that seem damage are the upper bumper reinforcement, the bumper itself and some minor frame stuff

does the automatic hold the key until the cars in park or anything like that? or is it just mechanical, like on a manual?

normally, you cannot remove the key unless the car is in park

one thing you cuold check is the wire that controls the keywhatever you call it , from the automactic trans. stick , you might have to take off the bottom center console to see it . it's mostly plastic parts , and the cable is adjustable, and yes it is normal for these little things to occur ,think of it this way , the body of the car stopped and the power train kept going acouple of millimeters until all the rubber soports held it back,if you want you can even eliminate the key lock , i don't recomend it.

Yeah the girl that had my car before got into a little fender bender and messed up the chassis slightly. I had the same prob: key gets stuck when you turn car off. Anyways I took it to a mechanic to get the oil changed or something and i pick it up and no prob. Prob all the time to never again. So talk to a mech. he'll set you straight.

they hit the nail on the head , its the cable that runs from the shifter to the sterring column this cable broke on me and i could not get the key out of my ignition for 2 days, untill i figured it out remove the center console and you will see the cable gold colored metal pretty thick going under towards your radio it probable came off and is stuck between on and off which will make the key not want to come out of the ignition. you can remove all together just dont start your car in drive, i removed it but mine is stick now anyway, hope this helps.
